The all-new Scion FR-S has understandably been attracting most of the attention for Toyota's Scion brand lately, but the other coupe of the family, the brand's top-selling Scion tC, is getting a new special edition model for 2013. The 2013 Scion tC Release Series 8.0 is the eighth iteration in the tC's Release Series, and like the very first one (the 2005 tC Release Series 1.0), this new model features a bright red paint scheme, dark wheels and limited production. Only 2,000 of the 2013 Scion tC Release Series 8.0 will be built, and they will have a starting MSRP of $21,815.

Scion's latest tC Release Series will make its public debut on July 22 at the Formula Drift event in Monroe, Wash., and it will be on sale in dealers later this month. The most noticeable aspect of the car is its bright and exclusive Absolutely Red exterior color with black door mirrors and blacked-out 18-inch, multi-spoke alloy wheels, but the car also gets an aggressive body kit designed by Five Axis. The five-piece body kit gives the tC a lower look, and the front fascia's lower grille replaces the vertical slates with a sportier mesh look. All of the new additions really help to accent the tC's sporty appearance and stance, but one of the most unique features is the integrated, center-mounted exhaust outlet. Finally, a unique wing is affixed to the rear decklid, and it shows off the "RS 8.0" logo.

Inside, the 2013 Scion tC Release Series 8.0 gets a reverse version of the red-on-black exterior scheme with a mostly black interior contrasted by red stitching on the steering wheel and on the seats. Each car will also get a unique, numbered badge on the leather-wrapped steering wheel to make the car even more individualized. The car's base price is for models with the six-speed manual gearbox, but for an extra $1,050, the tC Release Series 8.0 can be equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission that adds paddle shifters mounted to the back of the steering wheel. Other upgrades to the Scion tC Release Series 8.0 include a lowered suspension and exhaust system from Toyota Racing Development (TRD).

The starting MSRP for the 2013 Scion tC Release Series 8.0 does not include Toyota's $730 destination fee, and the fee could change for dealers in the Southeast Toyota and Gulf States Toyota areas.
