great vehicle
Pros: drives like a car
Cons: 2nd row side windows are fixed
ever bit as good as the Quest I owned.Pros: The satellite radio--oops I installed that myself!
Cons: Read the review...I've listed almost everything there.
Advice: RUN RUN RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN--Do not buy a Relay!
It's been a year since my last review. Here's an update...We've had to have even more work done. The tires are chopped up and we think this is due to an axle problem. We have had the radio and dvd player replaced, and the sliding doors adjusted to hang correctly in their rails to stop the grinding. The door moldings have been reglued. Startup had been having issues that were dealt with. Alternator is up to no good again (replaced x1). The wind noises and air leaks are driving me batty. The kid's seat belt adjuster is broken on one of the seats in the back. The accessories are a nightmare. oh yeah my absolute favorite--we had the tire jack replaced--it bent when my husband went to use it to rotate the tires! The engine still runs fine. The back doors have continued to work properly after they were fixed (lock and alarm issues). I wanted to update my previous review for all the people who look at these to help diagnose their own Relays. If your lights are blinking, its the alternator. Check your tires--how is your axle? The doors are known to open spontaneoulsy in these vehicles--according to other websites. I feel like the more knowledge we all have, the better to combat Saturn and the service staff into getting our issues fixed! Thanks for reading.Pros: large sliding doors for easy access
Cons: Horrid quality
Advice: Run like hell
Leased this vehicle from a St.Catharines Ontario Saturn dealership in Jan 06. Inthe first 7500 KMS we have had; a faulty wheel bearing which where the dealer mistakenly replaced the incorrect side resulting in a return trip. Cracking sounds from the front end which were diagnosed as inproperly factory mounted body panels grinding together. The stereo system was faulty/not powered, needed replacing. The Onstar had the exact same problem/no power and needed replacing, and as well, needed a second trip to the GM dealer to correct the problem which wasn't solved on the first try. The rear hatch hinges failed to support the hatch, and had to be replaced; lost compression. To top it off; as I write this review, the steroe and Onstar are both having periodic 'power outages' or failures which cause them to be temporarily without power. It is fair at best on lieage, and the ride is fair at best. Turning radius is poor, but the pracicaility of the vehicle is fantastic as in most vans. This vehicle starts and drives, but the fit and finish and quality are pathetic. Cannot wait to get away from this lease and go and get the Toyota I originally wanted. Tried to stay domestic first, but have been let down for the last time.Pros: Nothing!
Cons: The vehicle as a whole!
Advice: Do not purchase!
I purchased a 2005 Relay and was back in the dealer within 2 weeks of purchase and that's only the start. First thing out of vehicle, compressor to the air conditioning unit. Front passenger air bag needed replaced, was faulty and made awful rattling noise. Interior and exterior lights dim in and out constantly. Grinding noise upon starting. Over extended start up. 2 alternators replaced. Intake manifold replaced, both in the attempt to fix lighting problems. Came with a bug shield on the front, makes horrid wind noise. Bad seal on front window. Makes more rattling noise physically then a 20 yr. old car! Loud ringing/humming noise when DVD is playing. Had to seek legal help, no help from dealership or corporation.Pros: dvd system and rides nice
Cons: see list
Advice: choose another vehicle
Sounds like a lot of people in the same situation as myself. I also bought a 2005 Relay 3 at the end of 2005. What a mistake. We bought this vehicle to replace a 2003 Vue 4 cyclinder that had transmission problems, if I would have known that I would have endless trips to the service dept, I would have went else where. Current problems are hanging starter, creaking windows, alternator, rough idle and horn. It has already been in for moldings twice, roaters, some kind of bushing replacement, hanging starter, rough idle (both still not fixed), headlight burned out after couple of months, seemed to stall like no gas, but light had just came on right before parking the night before and the list goes on. Good luck to all of you, and continue to fight because I know I will.Pros: Seats seven
Cons: All the problems from a new vehicle
Advice: buy something else
I purchased a new Saturn 2005 relay July 2005 to replace another problem vehicle. I should have stayed with the other vehicle. My problems with this vehicle are the starter hangs and the vehicle suddenly stalls, the headlamp sensor, which was replaced, the DVD system, the moldings both interior and exterior, air leaks around the doors, transmission does not shift properly, and the tires wore out in under 8 months. Saturn should make a lemon juicer, that way you could at least have lemonade while you wait for the tow truck. Do not buy this vehicle, everPros: Seats seven passengers
Cons: Entire electrical system
Advice: Be cautious. Wait until they work through some of the kinks before purchase.
Well, looks like Melissa D from Wisconsin and I have vans from the same assembly line (with extremely similar problems). Saturn had to replace the alternator x1 (but it's fritzing again), the molding is falling off, saturn replaced the radio, the rear sliding door (non-automated door) has lock problems, and that same door has alarm problems, the DVD needs repair/replacement, and the headlamp sensor was replaced. We currently have less than 11,000 miles on the vehicle and have had it into the shop more than 5 times. Sometimes I feel like I need a support group to deal with this car! The only redeeming quality about this vehicle is that it drives nice--knock on wood!-- the engine runs smooth and is hassle free. I would also change the controls for the DVD to be friendlier for the driver to control from up front.
