Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Auto-stop engine at Stop lights or signs & the instant fuel economy has caused me to be more vigilant with the speed limit.
Cons: It wiould be great if battery power alone could be used up to 35-45 miles per hour - think about that for future development.
Advice: Test drive a variety of hybrid vehicles to get a good feel for the vehicle and the features you want, which is what I did.I purchased this vehicle three weeks ago. I like the small SUV, I'd had larger ones before, the fact it's a hybrid, and the gas mileage I'm getting. I've already driven it nearly 2800 miles due to a vacation, and we've reliably had consistent gas mileage of 27.5 to 30 miles per gal. I have noticed that the average fuel economy is sometimes not accurate with the actual calculation, but this is not problematic. We recently drove around a busy city with 5 adults, suitcases, a walker and a wheelchair. We were able to maintain comfort and fit it all in.
Pros: Body style
Cons: Car too heavy for 4 cyl. Saturn should reconsider.
Advice: Stay away from the 4 cyl.The 4 cyl has no power, someone might get injured if they are not aware of the slowness of acceleration. I owned a 2004 VUE which performed much better, this new body style is attractive but the car is too heavy for the motor in my opinion. Somewhere between 40-50 miles per hour it downshifts and you can floor board it and it will hardly move until it is ready to shift, whenever that may be. I also do not get the 18 miles per gallon city they advertise.
Pros: Looks and detail
Cons: Rear view mirror too low creates a blind spot to the right
Advice: order what YOU want on it.there is nothing like the feel of a real sports car on a winding road. This car drives well, and looks fantastic. I have had mine for a year now and I still get heads turning as I drive down the road. The only problem I've found so far is a slight vibration sound coming from the dash speedometer gage. I modified the trim on mine to gold and with the deep green body color it stand out as a looker in any class of vehicle
Pros: Power.Style.Fuel Economy.Price.
Cons: Storage space, but who cares this car is not meant for hauling.
Advice: Test drive it, and you'll see that Christian Wardlaw is an idiot. The car is awsome. The Saturn Sky is hands down, the best value for your dollar if your looking to purchase a fun, reliable, affordable, stylish coupe. I have had my redline for six months now, 15,000 kms and have had NO problems with the car. Power is great, its tremedous on fuel, and of course, the car is gorgeous. The auther of this article has an apparent bias towards import manufacturers that can be found in many of his statements, so disregard his review. I test drove the Honda S2000 and the Mazda MX-5, both of which could not stack up. Honda - too expensive for what you get, engine rev's ridiculously high and seems to do nothing with the high rpm. Mazda - underpowered, unrefined and ugly. I didnt get 'that feeling' with the Honda/Mazda. My advice, test drive all your potential rides and you'll see the Saturn is for you.
Pros: on star
Cons: Burns lots of gas
Advice: ...The car is great, but mine vue broke down after not even 2 weeks after purchase and only 800miles. I was told that it was computer problem , and as of right now its still not fixed. Im very upset with the whole situation and b/c of what happened would probably not consider buying another Saturn vehicle.
Pros: I like them all the same.
Cons: leg room
Advice: Get it loadedRides smooth not enough leg room for driver with long legs
Advice: Get the Red Line, not the standard model. The extra HP is a great thrillVery nice car. Reliable and fun to drive. Shifter could be tighter.
