The car drives great. With the V6 it is alot of fun to drive. With 5 passengers and the ac on it still has perfect pick-up.I have not had any problems with it so far. There is a slight bit of vibration upon acceleration but nothing even close to concern. For the money it is a great car to buy.Rides very smooth on the highway. Transmission is flawless. GREAT CAR! with the premium package, who could go wrong! -

Advice: Buy 2003 or later to avoid transmission trouble.
Very good drive for the most part, original Firestone tires could not be balanced well enough not to vibrate above 65mph, but replaced with Douglas touring at 40k and very pleased since. Transmission has always shifted rather firmly for a mid size car and developed issues around 36000 miles requiring replacement of the pressure control solenoid. Also, battery terminal popped off at 58000 miles. Otherwise, very dependable, comfortable, fuel efficient, good looking car. -

Advice: A saturn was not what I wanted,however, it was a very smart choice and I'm very happy with it.
This car really grips the road. You feel like your in control at all times, most importantly you feel safe. Who ever knew that a saturn could win my praise; someone who is stuck on materialistic things. Overall this is a great car at a great price. -

Cons: Money pit, saturn dealers labour costs... money pit... everything breaks.. money pit
Advice: Do not purchase this if you're going to spend more than 20 thousand. Go with an accord or toyota or something, spend the extra cash to get a decent car. This is sure a pile of junk.
Good car untill 50 thousand miles. -
2002 Saturn L-Series - L300 (A4) Sedan
Pros: Price. Electric control driver seat, V6 power, lots of features and only requires 87 octane gas. A blast to drive up PCH through Malibu.
Cons: The custom performance tires, will have to replace soon and they are expensive. Stiff suspension has both positive aspects and negative ones, really driver preference.
Advice: I hear 2005 model year is the last year for the L300. Only the sedan versions are available. If looking for a mid-size sedan, check them out.
This was our first Saturn and new vehicle purchase. This car belonged to the manager of the Saturn dealership, was sold as new, but discounted with 6,000 miles on it. It is a Special Edition, 2002 L300, black/black leather interior, 3.0 V6, 4 speed automatic, has the front bra and rear spoiler. The exterior Saturn logos are black instead of red. Includes the DVD and 6 CD audio system. It has custom 17 inch low profile wheels and performance tires. It is fun to drive! It has a perfomance suspension, great for cornering but, a little rough inside for passengers on bumps. The V6 motor and transmission are very responsive particularly at the high end. My wife loves this car and receives many compliments on it as have I at gas stations. Most people do not believe it is a Saturn. We have approximately 30,000 miles on it now. The only problem we have had is the turn signal stopped working recently. It was a problem with the hazard flash control mechanism and repaired under warranty. It is a lot of car for the money and even has features my brother in-laws Lexus does not have. I do not understand why this has not been a better selling vehicle? Granted, there are many vehicles to chose from in the mid-size market and Toyota and Honda seem to have the lock on it. Possibly the L-Series or L300 Series Saturns, got lost in the mix with other GM competitors in this class. In fact, we were going to buy a 2002 Chevy Impala but because of a bad experience with the Chevy dealer, we went to Saturn as we heard they had a larger sedan available. I thanked the Chevy dealership for their poor customer relations as we have been extremely pleased with this car and the Saturn delearship. -

I am pleased with the suspension. It handles well for a 4 door midsize car. I drove a Nissan Altima 2.5S with a 170HP 4cylinder and I like the Saturn's engine better. It seems to have a broader torque/HP curve. The Nissan seemed to have no power before about 4500 RPM. I like the looks and the gas mileage. The seats are a little short, but comfortable enough on a 700 mile trip. Back seat room is good and excellent trunk space, except for the hinges. The middle brake light reflects off the window glass and makes it hard to see at night. Engine may be a little louder than it should, but is pleasent sounding. I've always been a V8 guy. I've had Impalas, Cadillacs and Mercurys, but this 4 cylinder is just right for an in-towner, and good on the interstate. You can only go so fast, why burn all the extra gas, not to mention speeding tickets?
