A Rare Jewel
Pros: rear decklid wing
Cons: No recaro seats for the 07 model only
I own a Saturn Ion Redline, supercharged. This is the most fun car I have ever owned! It's great on gas with a 4 cylinder, but can really go when you step on it with about 285 HP. I have done some mods to it, and being made of 'plastic' its a light car so together that equals one fun car to drive!! Its also a rare car with only 6000 produced over a 4 year period. I actually own 2 of them! I get alot of attention in it, mostly 'That's a SATURN??????'Pros: Dent-resistant body paneling
Cons: Odor coming from vents
Advice: Buy a Honda
I purchased a 2007 Ion 2 brand new. I like the way it handles and find it comfortable to drive because I am a petite woman. But overall I regret my purchase because I've had too many service appointments for a new vehicle. The brakes and two tires have been replaced, a power window came off the track, the dash has been taken apart due to rattling, the fan motor makes a ticking sound that they say cannot be replaced, and now I have a strange odor coming from the vents; I've been told that it is the HEPA filter. I owned a Saturn before, but this one is not good.Pros: The surprisingly roominess of the interior and trunk.
Cons: Option packages
Advice: Don't just research the vehicle you want to own, research the dealer also
I tried the 2007 Ion2 Coupe after researching the 2006. I loved the way the vehicle handled and the body style of it. The backseat was roomy and I loved the 'hidden' backseat doors. I coudn't find any rattles or horrible noises in the vehicle. The seats were extremely hard and may be hard to handle on a long trip. I would have walked off the lot with one today if the dealer had been a little more flexable. I live in Florida and the lot car didn't have AC; which I would have been happy to over look if they had dropped the price $1,000. I didn't notice the offset controls after a mile or so and was easy to view at a quick glance.
