After the full-size Nissan NV van was introduced last year to take on other commercial vans, it obviously wouldn't take long for a passenger version of the van to hit the streets. Available only in the 3500 HD body designation with the regular roof height, the 2012 Nissan NV Passenger will have a starting price of $36,190, and while the NV Cargo Van is geared toward businesses, the new passenger van is ready for personal and business use alike.

The starting MSRP is for the base NV Passenger S model with the 4.0-liter V-6 which is about a $3,000 premium over the 3500 HD Cargo Van, but it can also get the V-8 engine starting at $32,590. Standard equipment includes black grille, bumpers and door mirrors, split and removable rear seats with integrated seat belts for all seating positions, fold down front passenger seat, rear window defroster and 12 rear HVAC vents for rear occupants. This model can be equipped with the Power Basic Package that adds cruise control, power door windows, remote keyless entry and power door locks for $550, or the Power Basic and Towing Package adding in the aforementioned as well as a Class IV receiver hitch, seven-pin wiring harness, front tow hooks and pre-wiring for a trailer brake controller all for $970.

Stepping up to the added equipment of the NV Passenger SV increases the price to $33,890 which comes standard with all of the features in the Power Basic Package and it gets chrome exterior accents on the grille, bumpers and door mirrors, a sonar parking system integrated into the rear bumper, three 12-volt power DC outlets, two 120-volt AC power outlets and a six-speaker audio system. Option on the SV include a V-8 engine which raises the starting MSRP to $34,790, a $460 Towing Package for said V-8 models which includes power extendable heated chrome tow mirrors and a $950 Technology Package that adds navigation, Bluetooth, XM Radio and a USB port.

Finally, the NV Passenger SL starts at $37,390, and it comes standard only with the V-8 engine. Other standard features on the more luxurious SL trim level include front and rear sonar parking system, leather seats, heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and fog lights. NV Passenger SL models can also be equipped with the same $460 Towing Package as the SV, but the Technology Package is $100 cheaper and adds a RearView Monitor. In total, a 2012 Nissan NV Passenger SL optioned up with every available package and accessory retails for $40,015 including destination which is just a little bit more than a fully loaded Ford E-350 XLT that, interestingly, doesn't come standard with remote keyless entry, rear sonar or privacy glass.

With four rows of seats that can accommodate up to 12 passengers, Nissan says the NV Passenger Van has as many as 324 different seating configurations without sacrificing safety. This is a result of the rear three rows having split seating that can be removed to allow for more cargo space when passenger space isn't required. Like the Cargo Van, Nissan also has the unique option for NV Passenger buyers to create and purchase unique body graphics that are created by an outside firm, Original Wraps, Inc. There is no word as to whether Nissan will offer the NV Passenger in 1500 or 2500 body styles, but the smaller NV Compact Cargo is on its way and could get a Passenger version as well.
