Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: The comfort of the interior.
Cons: The cheap metal used for the body.
Advice: Get the car fully loaded. The care drives very good. The car has pretty good pick up. The car is worth what you pay ($10,000 to 16,000) For the price you are deffinetly getting what you pay for and just that. The dealerships are bad when it comes to the maintenance to your car. My advise is to gain some friends that are mechanics and let them work on your car. IU have been to five different dealerships and all of the mechanics are horrible. They forget to grease your struts before reinserting them...
Pros: gets good gas mileage when it's driveable
Advice: it's okay when you don't get a lemon, but keep record of everything that happens on the car if anything acts up.I bought my 2003 Sunfire brand new and have had nothing but problems with it since I purchased it. It's been back at the dealership for the car dying at any speeds, whenever I so much as tapped on the brakes. Finally, it was fixed after I got into a wreck because of the car dying. I took it to another dealership and there had been a bulletin out about the issue in the electrical system since November 2003. I've had the taillights fixed, the trunk door latch sticks, and most recently, my rear brakes fell apart while I was on the highway. I would not reccomend this car for anyone!
Pros: looks and very peppy
Cons: no power windows
Advice: get tinted widows from dealer..if legal in your statepurchased new 08-03...had problems with radio..poor reception...had problems with heater controls sticking..fixed once..going back again....had problem with dead battery several times, it was in shop for total of 5 days with that one..ended up replacing battery...no problems since...rear brake drums out of round, vehicle pulsated to a stop, pontiac resurfaced drums..fine now.. 20,000 miles on it now since 08-03 ..all highway...one more thing...the delay wiper malfunctioned...dealer replaced wiper motor..i hope this is the end of my minor problems and hope no major problems arise.
Pros: sun roof
Cons: no power windows
Advice: get power windowsExcellent, like the car alot.
Pros: With GT package with optional automatic transmission, standard 4-wheel ABS and traction control, sufficient power and gas mileage.
Cons: Only available as a coupe, not available with cassette.
Advice: Great overall compact coupe with GT package if you do not need cassette. If so, check the Cavalier LS or LS Sport coupe.I checked this with the GT package. I have to say I was very impressed! It is its looks and how it drives. However, it is no longer available as a sedan. It is not available with cassette. It is why I went with the Cavalier LS sedan. Also, the coupe has a little less back seat leg room than the Cavalier LS sedan. However, everything else is the same. And it is very good on gas. It has plenty of power. I recommend this coupe.
Pros: My favorite feature is the Getrag transmission.
Cons: Cheap hubcaps.
Advice: If you can get the wheels, get them. The hubcaps are too cheap and make too much noise. This car is super fun to drive!
Pros: Excellent overall.
Cons: Not available in a sedan which has more back seat leg room.
Advice: If you want a great overall compact coupe, this is it. If you want a more roomy sedan, I suggest the 2003 Cavalier sedans. This is an excellent overall coupe. I was just disappointed there is no sedan version made for 2003. In the coupes, they have less back seat leg room. So, my suggestion for those who want this in a sedan for 2003 is to check out the 2003 Cavalier sedans.
