Pros: supercharger custom rims in dash dvd system
Cons: sits lowvery well maintained
Pros: sportiness and fuel ecomony
Cons: the rear seats have a pass through area but they dont fold down like the 2005 does and the cupholders in rear are in the fold down seat which isnt very stable a place.
Advice: Test drive it- if you can get a 1 owner like I did jump on it!I used to own a '99 Grand Am GT and loved it- UNTIL I traded it for my '02 Grand Prix!!!! This is such a super car!!! Roomy and even with it's 4 doors its still sporty as heck! I get 28-30 mpg which for a big car is superb. This is an average mpg between highway and city driving. I have never had less than 27 mpg in this car. It handles great, braking is good and the accleration is terrific! I got a great deal on it in '05 with 60K on it. Everyone should seriously consider this car if you want reliability, good gas mileage, roominess AND sportiness!!!
Pros: the engine
Advice: go get 1 before they are all gonei have the 2002 GT grand prix and i am very very happy with it it turns head where ever i go and the speed it out of this worl d i am very happy with this car
Pros: Sporty ride
Cons: Low mileage repairs
Advice: Consider other makes.Bought this car new in 2002. First problem i had with it was the anoying pinging noise from the front end which ended up being the brake caliper bolts which had side play in them. Not fixed by GM. Second probem, had a recall on a sensor gasket replaced on the intake manifold, ever since, every 2 months the coolant light came on and had to backfill the radiator. No clue where the coolant was going. Third problem was at about 35000 miles, the front cv joints started going bad, making loud whining noises. Now at 52000 miles, the transmission is going out. I've read all about it on sites and its pritty common on the GP'S. A selinoid goes bad inside the transmission and causes really hard shifts. Better buy an extended warrantee because its a $2500 job. I had one, but traded for a TRUCK!!!!! Wont buy another Pontiac!!!!!
Pros: Handling and look
Cons: repairs on a car with only 45,000 miles
Advice: research the intake problem first and then decideI loved my Grand Prix until it hit 45,000 miles. Had to have the intake replaced and the converter while on vacation. The intake repair cost me about $700. The converter was covered under warranty. After during some research, I found the intake to be a very huge problem with many Grand Prix owners. Buyer beware.
Pros: CD Player, Alarm, Interior room and comfort, chrome wheels
Cons: A little long, but still sporty
Advice: If it has good miles and is in good exterior and interior condition...DEFINATELY BUY!I just got a used 2002 Grand Prix GT...I love it! It has 61K miles on it and still rides so nice!! I love the factory alarm...really gives me a piece of mind, especially since I'm in college and being parked in the lot most of the day is a little unnerving. I used to have a 1993 Chrysler Concorde, and even though that is a 'luxury' car, this beats it in every way...I LOVE MY CAR!
