Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Advice: just Do it!What does a 63 year old guy weighing 230 do with a GXP Solstice? HAVE A BALL! And scare myself. Remember I grew up with Shelby's original Cobra, Junior Johnson and Ralph Earnheart, (Dale's dad for you kids!) Nothing has ever matched the jump for 60 to 80 like this. Your mind cannot keep up so be careful and legal. Anyone know where I can go to learn to drive this beast? Get yourself in one! And dont worry when the slow short trips flood the engine. They send 3 or more trucks to get it going!! And it does.
Pros: 6 CD-Changer
Cons: Haven't had the car for a year and had regular brake problems; power window problems, new starter, and new steering wheel/column.
Advice: Be sure to get regular service checks; pay attention to car's performance (warnings); and buy extended warranty.Absolutely loved everything about it! Especially just looking at it for the first time!
Pros: Interior feels like a cockpit dedicated to the driver. Great driver position.
Cons: Trunk, Cupholders behind driver position, window controls too far back.
Advice: Fun, fun, fun!!! If you need to haul stuff you will need a second vehicle.I purchased my 2006 Solstice in November 2006. I have driven 7,000 miles since then. The Solstice is great personal transportation. The car is the most fun I ever had behind the wheel. It handles like a dream. Get used to talking to strangers because everyone wants to know what it is. Old, young, and everyone in between like what they see. I drove the car on two long trips last year and it was a blast driving through the twisting Vermont mountain roads. Some say it doesn't have enough horsepower, but I say this 4 cylinder is deep. Drop it into forth for passing at highway speeds and tell me this car is not powerful; I bet you can't. It's not a race car anyway; it just looks like a racecar. Get used to taking drives for no reason other than having a fun day in the Solstice. Spring is coming and I will be cruising top down again soon. Solstice is top rated for resale, limited numbers will keep it that way. Not that resale matters to me because the Solstice is my long term fun car. Solstice surpassed the Miata in sales first year, and the GXP version will keep it that way. I purchased a small used wagon so my Solstice wouldn't be on the road in winter. 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway (top down all the way). I enjoy watching people in much more expensive cars staring enviously at the Solstice at stop lights. Over a year later the Solstice is still a rare sight on the road which works for me.
Cons: The auto lights that come on during he day
Advice: get the alloy wheels instead of the granny wheelcoversMake sure you get the aluminum wheels instead of the basic 'granny wheel covers'. I bought silver a 2006 Pontiac G6 four months ago. I was surprised by it's wonderful peformance; the peppy 6 cyl engine, the steering and handling. The monsoon stereo is entertainment in itself. I love to play CDs while I'm in the vehicle. Good buy if you want style and full power options, but dont have a lot of money. This car is the best kept secret. Pontiac could have sold a lot more of these cars, if they had make the alloy aluminum wheels standard. Many G6's on the street, have the basic wheel covers which give the car a granny look. That's why I never noticed the G6 until I saw mine with the fancy aluminum alloy wheels.
Pros: the whole veical package. The fit and finish. My friend just bought a 07 Camry and the interior is not put together as well as my G6. A lot of gaps in the Camry.
Cons: I have the 4 panel sun roof that closed gives off lots of wind noise during higher speeds, but when you open that baby up it is worth it.
Advice: test drive one for yourself. I have had mine for over a year and aside from a minor steering gear problem it has held together quite nicelysmooth and handles nice. Has ample power with a 200 hp engine . Fuel economy is good, I get an average of 25 mpg. I drive about half and half city and express way.
Pros: The body style/look.
Cons: The amount of space in the car/trunk. The water leaks from the windows and in the trunk
Advice: DO NOT BUY IT!Another Buyer Beware. I've had nothing but problems since purchasing this car in June. The convertible top would not close properly after the first day and eventually has been replaced. Water from rain or carwash leaks heavily into the trunk collecting near near the tire pump and the windows leak. Dealership tells me they fix the issues but nothing is ever fixed. I'm considering legal action.
Pros: the info and audio system
Cons: no ashtray
Advice: you will love this vehicleit handles well and is comfortable and is worth the money
