Over 14,500 Nissan Trucks and Infinitis Recalled For Oil Leak Issue

Nissan has announced a recall of almost 15,000 vehicles, nearly all of them trucks, vans, and SUVs. The issue is with bolts that connect the engine oil cooler and oil filter to the engine that may be weaker than specification. The affected bolts may break under normal use, which could cause oil leakage and pressure loss. This could eventually result in the engine seizing.

The recall includes 2011 and 2012 model year vehicles manufactured between June 11 and October 3 of 2011. Approximately 14,591 Nissan Frontiers, Xterras, Pathfinders, and NV commercial vans are included in this recall. Less than 130 total Infiniti FX and M models are also included in this campaign.

Although all of the Nissan brand vehicles were manufactured at the company's USA facilities in Tennessee and Mississippi, the defective bolts came from Japan. Dealers are already aware of the issue, and owners will begin to be notified in January. Nissan will replace the bolts free of charge.
