The 2010 Dodge Journey is a mid-size crossover vehicle that walks the line between a standard SUV and a traditional minivan. Despite its smaller, more manageable platform when compared to either of those classes of vehicle, the Dodge Journey can see its seating expanded to seven if the optional third row is installed, and its fold-flat accommodations can open up 68 cubic feet of usable storage space inside. The base Journey SE is equipped with air conditioning, power windows and door locks and a CD player that can read MP3 digital music files, while the Journey SXT offers improvements such as upgraded seat fabric, satellite radio and a power driver's seat. The sport Dodge Journey R/T tops the crossover's lineup with dual automatic climate control, heated leather seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The 2010 Dodge Journey is initially offered with a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that is good for 173 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque. It is yoked to a four-speed automatic transmission and provides fuel mileage of 19 miles per gallon in city driving and 25 miles per gallon on the highway. The Dodge Journey SXT and R/T models swap out the four-cylinder for a 235 horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 that also generates 232 lb-ft of torque. This larger engine gains a six-speed automatic transmission and returns fuel mileage of 16 miles per gallon around town and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. The V-6 models can also be equipped with all-wheel drive.
