Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Cons: Quality, service, mileage, cupholders
Advice: Don't buy it unless you REALLY want it and don't mind incredibly slow service for a common problem.I bought the SE-R (For some reason this site said the SE-R 'was not found in our database' so I'm putting it as an S) with three ideas in mind: gas mileage, reliability and decent performance. I'm actually angry with my purchase. 1) The gas mileage, while not terrible, wasn't THAT much of an improvement over my previous vehicle (V-6 Camaro.) 2) The much vaunted japanese reliability has failed the Sentra and Nissan. No more than five months after I bought it, the throttle body went out. I brought it in immediately for warranty and here I am, over 2 months later with the throttle body yet to be replaced.(Partially a service problem but when I bought the car I also paid for my three year warranty and I want service, not excuses.) I'm thoroughly disillusioned in this catagory. 3) The performance of the car is passable. The steering is responsive and the vehicle's light weight make it feel more nimble than it is. The acceleration is passable... even comparable to my '98 Camaro. Two strikes already... this car is almost out.
Pros: High performance tires, 17 inch alloy wheels, 6 peed close ratio manual and the 175hp
Cons: The car can be a little bit more roomy
Advice: Not only is the car fun to drive it has many features and finding tunning parts for the car won't be to hard. The SE-R Spec V delivers like a sports car in a sadan body, the Saphire Blue which comes only on the Spec V gives it a sweet look. The six speed close ratio manual transmission gives the car great acceleration, while the standard high performance tires which come on 17-inch rims give the car a really nice sporty look. When you take it out on the expressway you may find yourself going 120mhp without even feeling the speed(Radar Detector recomended). The front bucket seats are very comfortable. The radio cd player which comes with an AUX input allows you to hook up your mp3 player or even a portable DVD Player allowing you to listen to the audio through all of your car speakers. Overall the car has a great performance which you can feel when you start taking corners with higher speeds and the car doesn't loose it's grip one bit which makes you feel like you're driving a sports car.
Pros: THE LOOK
Cons: GAS INTAKE
Advice: DO NOT BUY YOU WILL HAVE TO GET A PART TIME JOB TO MAINTAIN ON GAS.I HAVE A 2002 NISSAN SENTRA SER SPEC V, IT'S A GAS GUSSLER DO NOT BUY!!!
Pros: Rocford Fosgate 7 cd changer, trip computer, firmer seats
Cons: cup holders too close to cd player
Advice: Buy it keep it a long time and enjoy! One of the Three best Sub-Compacts you can buy under 15000.00.If you want dependability, fuel economy, durability. Great car to use and abuse and hand me down to daughter in four years.Thats what I plan.I've own three of these they never disapoint me.I think this car is always underated by experts. It's cheaper than Honda,Toyota and you get alot of stuff,alloys,6 cd changer, spoiler, firmer seats, trip computer.I'am quitting tradding in these damn things, cause everytime I've regretted it.This will be my pass down car.
Advice: Go test drive competiton firstI was very impressed with this car! It not only had possibly every need you wanted, it had a great price too! For 11983 you can get a 1.8S Special edition with a 6cd changer, 9 speakers including subwoofer, keyless entry, leather steering wheel, power everything, fog lights, spoiler, and much more. The car drives great for an economy sedan. Power is adequate and the comfort is actually above average for this class of vehicle. I bought it 4 days ago so don't know much about reliability but so far it's excellent! I recommend this car over the overrated competiton. Although I got this car at almost $5,000 below MSRP it is a rare thing to get the price this low.
Pros: automatic trans shifts right on when it should, decent ride on good road, suprised at this..
Cons: location of oil filter, a major pain for do it your selfers.
Advice: test drive on a less than perfect road, evaluate the noise level, ya might be suprised..The car performs as expected with the automatic transmission shifting very well. The motor is a little noisy under load and the stock tires are unusually noisy on anything but a smooth road. Handling is very good with no suprises. Air condition and heater are strong points, the standard seats are weaker points, somewhat small for an average adult but adequate. Mileage is good, around town and short trips average 27 mpg. Only one major gripe is the oil filter is behind the engine almost to the fire wall and a REAL PAIN to get at no matter how ya do it...
Pros: ............I don't know, the spoiler lol, no....6 disc CD changer
Cons: Everything else!
Advice: DON'T BUY...GET A SCION! I WISH I DID!!When I test drove the car, the ride was smooth, nice, comfortable, everything you want your test drive to be! When I purchased my own it was a WHOLE other story! My car is a 2005 1.8S Special edition. It stalls, jerks, and had the nerve to cut off on me. The car is 3 months old, it shoudn't do this. I took it to the dealer and they want to hand me an assignment to do so it doesn't happen anymore....but guess what.....it still happens! Don't buy!!
