Pros: 3.5 L 255 hp engine
Advice: It doesn't do justice unless you get the fully loaded Maxima.I have owned two Maxima's before, a 1987 and a 1991. Both were excellent cars. I test drove the 2002 and fell in love. Nissan was loosing it's touch from 1995-2001, I still loved Nissan's but something was gone. They have found their way again with the totally redesigned Altima the 3.5 VQ engine in their line-up. The Pathfinder is better than ever, Sentra Spec, the new Z car and best of all the fully loaded most powerful Maxima ever.
Pros: Great combination of power and economy
Cons: firm suspension doesn't soak up bumps as well as some other cars
Advice: Be sure to test drive this vehicle before choosing another car.Looks great. Handles and corners well. Plenty of power from the 175 hp 4 cyl. engine. Reasonably quiet. Smooth transmission shifts. Lots of standard equipment. Very good milage.
Pros: The roominess and the appearance.
Cons: The dashboard needs improvement and noisy in the freeway.
Advice: The Maxima is still the way to go.The appearance of the car is definitely beautiful. When you drive it, you can feel the power when you shift to 3rd gear but the car feels light. There's a strange noise on the left hand side of the dashboard like a heater fan when the car is off. The noise level on the freeway is high.
Cons: Real Taillights
Advice: The Maxima won't fail you.I love this car! It is comfortable, roomy, safe and exciting! Incredible bargain! Beats the Camry & Accord without a problem. I still haven't been able to figure out why the Maxima doesn't outsell its class.
Advice: just buy itPowerful and beautiful...just buy it. You will love it.
Pros: rockford fosgate radio
Cons: torque steer
Advice: Take a test driveGood overall performance, some wind noise, overall quality very good, for the money...great car
Pros: Excellent frame rigidity.
Cons: No ABS.
Advice: Recommended for short or long time ownersWhat i like is the feedback that the car is giving us, it is very informative, and you are very aware of what is going on with the car you're driving, giving you also a nice feeling of total control. Every pieces of equipment is working perfectly and efficiently in this car, from the A-C and electrics, up to the wippers! The layout is good, and it give an impression of great overall quality. I rent the GXE 2001 version, and i see it as an excellent car for grown-ups, and people who buy theirs first brand new car.
