suspect trans
Pros: performance/price
Cons: maintance/trans/brakes
Wonderful car but trans needs service often, brakes wear uneven and require extra service ie rotors and pistons service often2000/nissan/maxima4dse
Pros: maxima se sedan
Cons: 175000 miles
car is in excellent condition leather sunroof cd radio bose systemPros: Classy look and feel--love the panel, vertical, non opening sun roof
Cons: Color of the dash display and the limited data for radio data (artist name, etc. on XM)
Advice: Try the black interior.
In December I bought two new cars--a 2006 Maxima SL for my wife and an Acura TL for myself. Having two news cars gives me some basis for comparison. The power of the Maxima is outstanding. The ride is softer as are the seats. The vertical, non opening sunroof is cool. The mileage is good, but not great--23 or so on the Maxima, 26 or so on the TL. I did not get the navigation system on the Maxima. The display for XM satellite radio is absolutely miserly--10 characters. In other words, you generally get a first name and a couple of characters of a second name.Pros: radio
Cons: everything else
Advice: use caution
Buyers beware on the Maxima, it is not being made like the older models, this car has been the upmost worst car I ever purchased ( NEMET NISSAN ) I had the car for 3 months and have been to the dealers at least 10- 15 times with all types of problems with the engine & transmission.Pros: Auto steering column
Cons: The sunroof leaks in the car wash. After 3 attempts to have the problem fixed, I received a copy of the Nissan work instruction stating 'If water leaks occur only when using an automatic car wash or high pressure water spray, no repair is necessary'.
Advice: Buyer Beware
All the positive aspects of the car are overshadowed by the leaking sunroof. Buyer Beware -- Nissan does not warranty the sunroof in a car wash and this information is not available to consumers prior to purchase. If you never use an automatic car wash, this is the car for you. Otherwise, buy a Toyota.Pros: The smooth, responsive V-6.
Cons: Small, controls for the HVAC and radio. Lack of lighted controls on the steering wheel.
Advice: Take it for a long (preferably overnight) test drive and put it through it's paces. You'll be impressed.
I've owned my Max for 5 months now, and I have yet to find fault with the car. After driving Dodge Intepids for the last 10 years, this car is the picture of refinement. Compared to the Dodge's 3.5L V-6, the Maxima's engine is in a class by itself. Smooth, responsive, and powerful. The interior is beautiful and logically laid out. Although I gave up a bit of interior room and trunk space moving from the Intrepid, the car does not feel smaller. Plenty of backseat leg room, and I can get 4 sets of golf clubs in the trunk. I'm very impressed with the car to this point.Pros: Skyview
Cons: the factory crome wheels untill I saw them in action and the grill
Advice: Check it out
Amazed. I was in the market for a new car so i narrowed it down to two vehicles, g35 or maxima. I never got to test drive the G because the maxima to my breath away. I got it with everything but the sunroof and elite package. This car is very powerful. 265 ponies and 255lbs of torque. So far this is the best car I have ever owned.
