Changes for the 2014 Nissan Cube:

Nissan, evidently deciding that the auto industry’s fascination with brown as a paint color has run its course, replaces Bitter Chocolate paint with a new Turquoise color. How tropical.

Model Lineup:

When buying a 2014 Nissan Cube, buyers select between the S and the SL trim level. The Cube SL features a continuously variable transmission (CVT) in place of the Cube S model’s standard manual gearbox, along with a Nissan Intelligent Key push-button ignition system, automatic climate control, automatic headlights, and 16-inch aluminum wheels.

A CVT is optional for the Cube S. Additional upgrades for this model are offered by the Nissan dealership. The Cube SL can be fitted with the SL Preferred Package, which installs fog lights, a premium sound system with satellite radio, and a navigation system with a 5-inch touchscreen display, a USB port, and a reversing camera display.

Engines and Transmissions:

All 2014 Cubes have a 122-horsepower, 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard for the Cube S, while a CVT is included for the Cube SL. The CVT is optional for the Cube S.

Fuel Economy Ratings:

When equipped with the standard manual gearbox, the Cube S gets 27 mpg in combined driving. Choose a model with the CVT, and the rating rises to 28 mpg.

Safety Ratings:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) had not performed crash tests on the 2014 Nissan Cube as this summary was written. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Cube gets the highest rating of “Good” in all assessments. Note, however, that the IIHS had not performed the small overlap frontal-impact test on the 2014 Cube as this summary was published.

Technology Highlights:

All versions of the 2014 Cube are equipped with Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port, while the Cube SL features push-button ignition and automatic climate control. Options for the SL model include a navigation system with a 5-inch touchscreen display and a reversing camera.
