Nissan Documents Restoration of A 1996 Maxima Found On Craigslist

Last year, Luke Aker posted his 1996 Maxima on Craigslist for $1,400. At the time, his vehicle could best be described as a "mechanic's special" because of the ratchet strap holding the hood down, plenty of tears in the seats, weathered paint, and other broken pieces. But Aker then created a commercial that was posted on YouTube called "Luxury Defined," that made fun of commercials for luxury vehicles. Nissan got wind of this and decided to buy the Maxima.

"Once we saw his brilliant video, we knew we had to do our part to help Luke's land-yacht live on! So we bought it and, based on fan suggestions, restored it to its former glory," said Nissan.

Since then, Nissan has released a follow-up, dramatizing the restoration process and presenting the final product. The video features some of the Maxima's features such as built-in navigation (paper maps in the glove box) and state-of-the-art tape infotainment system (tape deck).

The best part of this? Nissan now has Luke's Maxima sitting at their North American headquarters in Nashville for all to see.
