Special Editions Honor GMC's Debut at 1912 New York Auto Show
To help celebrate a full century of Professional Grade prowess, Heritage Editions of the 2012 GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon and GMC Yukon XL will make their debuts at the upcoming New York Auto Show, which opens to the public on April 6. The venue was chosen with care, too, since the very first trucks to wear the “GMC” name were introduced one hundred years ago at the 1912 New York Auto Show.
The 2012 Heritage Edition packages are designed to provide customers with distinctive trucks that offer both exclusive design accents as well as premium content borrowed from other GMC models, and wrap the trucks in a choice of three different premium paint colors: Onyx Black, a fresh Heritage Blue (for an additional $195), or White Diamond (requiring an extra $995). In addition, the 2012 GMC Sierra Heritage Edition, available only on the Sierra 1500, then brings:
The 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 Heritage Edition will add $2,645 to the MSRP of the pickup, excluding the cost of premium paint colors. For the 2012 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL Heritage Editions, the new package adds $1,970 to the bottom line; it’s also available on the Yukon 2500 for $1,820. Those prices add Heritage Edition badging and embroidery, along with the GMC Yukon SLT-2 Equipment Package, including10-way leather front seats with memory, heated second-row seats with power-release functionality (heated front seats already are standard), a power-operated rear liftgate, and heated side mirrors. More content—like 20-inch wheels—is optional as well.
“The GMC brand always looks forward, but this day provides an opportunity to celebrate 100 years of the proud GMC name,” said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of GMC Marketing. “Sierra and Yukon are two of our longest-running and most-respected nameplates, so it makes sense to use them to represent our heritage.”
Those interested in the GMC brand also should remember that, in addition to the vehicles it’s introducing at the 2012 New York Auto Show, the division also recently unveiled the 2013 GMC Terrain Denali, adding its small crossover to the range-topping Denali team, and the 2013 GMC Acadia, which garners a fresh new style and key new technologies.
