New Entry, Lux Models Debut for 2015 Chrysler Town and Country

This one nearly slipped in under ye olde radar, but the 2015 Chrysler Town and Country seems to have bolstered its lineup at both ends of the pricing spectrum for the new model year, adding a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country LX as the new entry point to the roster and then capping off the range with the 2015 Chrysler Town and Country Platinum.

The former allows the Town and Country team to keep its MSRP below the $30,000 mark, although that still leaves the 2015 Chrysler Town and Country with the highest-starting point of any minivan on the market today. The segment's next most expensive choices, the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna, start at $28,975 and $28,600, respectively. On the other hand, that Town and Country sticker price of $29,995 does cover standard amenities like leather-trimmed seating, a rearview camera, power sliding doors, a powered liftgate, 17-inch aluminum wheels, the "Stow 'n Go" seat-storage system.

As for the flagship Limited Platinum model, it features a cornucopia of Chrysler content, highlighted by:

• A Nappa leather cabin with eight-way power-adjustable front seats, heated first and second rows, and a power-folding third row
• The auto industry's only dual-screen Blu-ray DVD entertainment system with HDMI video-game inputs, complemented by a 506-watt audio setup and nine Infinity speakers
• Uconnect technology with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Voice Command and navigation
• Chrysler's SafetyTec package, bundling blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, rear park assist, rain-sensitive wipers, automatic high-beam control, and tire-pressure monitoring

Further, even though the 2015 Chrysler Town and Country does have the highest starting price among today's minivans—as mentioned above—the Limited Platinum actually undercuts the cost of the Honda and Toyota range-toppers by thousands of dollars.

All Town and Country models also continue to rely on the Chrysler Group's 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which, in its minivan trim, is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission to provide 283 hp, 260 lb.-ft. of torque, EPA grades of 17 mpg city/25 mpg highway/20 mpg combined, and a max tow rating of 3,600 lbs.

With all that going on, the Town and Country enters the last month of 2014 as the category's bestseller, boasting 127,331 sales that represent a 13.1 percent advance over the previous year.
