Pros: brembo brakes
Cons: no rear passenger leg room - for a large car it has small back seats - this car should have been made a coupe.
Advice: if you need a high performance AWD turbo sports sedan - this is the one for you - if you need passenger space take a look at the V8 S80 modelexcellent road handling - after owning many high end Audi's, BMW's and Jaguar's - I never considered the S60 r volvo - but after one short test drive - I was completly amazed - great brakes, the brembo's are excellent - the optional 18 inch wheels with low profile tires grip the road and it just brings a smile to my face. This is Volvo's best kept secret!!!
Pros: Heated Seats
Cons: Second Row difficult to move and collapse
Advice: Rent one for a week if possible before buying.I have had this car in for service more times than any other vehicle I have ever owned. Brakes squeeked (fixed), brake pump (replaced), computer chip (replaced), recall part (replaced). We are still working on another squeek that they can't seem to find the problem. We feel safe in the car and it fits my three kids fine. The second row seats are hard to move forward and collapse. Difficult for an 8 & 6 year old to get in the third row. Design not great and quality is not worth the money.
Cons: Quality and engineering
Advice: Don't waste your money - I should have bought the AcruraI bought mine with the DVD player...didn't work when I tried to turn it on. I was told that I have to use the remote control. When I asked why the buttons on the DVD player don't function, the technician at the dealership just shrugged. Wow!!! ...and that's not the worst of it, just the most ridiculous!!!
Cons: steering wheel
Advice: Do the overseas deliveryPicked up my 2007 V-8 XC-90 Gothenburg. Drove thru Germany for 10 days. The car handled like a dream. Cruised around 80 mph most of the time had it up to 120mph twice. I was impressed. My only complaint is the steering wheel. Where the cruise and stereo controls are located that is where I rest my hands. The comfort and how quiet the xc90 was great. When you put the pedal down there was plenty of power. Plenty of room.
Pros: The stability and 'solid' driving and corning capabilities.
Cons: It has a blind spot on the drivers side.
Advice: If you are looking for comfort, safety and a solid crossover, this car is for you.We purchased the 2006 Volvo XC90 2.5T with 8500 miles. This car was a loaner and is in immaculate condition. The car drives like a Lincoln Town Car (smooth) and performs like a BMW.
Pros: AC controls, keyless ignition. impressive stereo.
Cons: Rear tail light design.
Advice: Go with the 3.2. Plenty of power and torque for city and highway cruising. After driving and considering a number of other autos including: BMW 5, Lexus GS, Infiniti M and MB E350 I chose the Volvo S80 3.2. While each car had 1-2 oustanding points, the Volvo felt like a better all around car and offered the best value. Volvo has really come a long way in the past few years with both interior and exterior design. Materials are top notch and seating is about the most comfortable I've found in this class (I'm 6' 2'' 210lbs). Handling is quite capable, but not as impressive as some other makes. Controls are simple and straight forward. Infiniti was nicest of all, but limited dealer network was a major downside. If you're looking for a comfortable 'family of four' cruiser this is it.
Cons: The entire performance and interior reliability.
Advice: If you have more than 1 child dont buy it. The third row is useless except for VERY small children and they need a carseat anyway. You can't get to the third row hardly at all.If you want a car that looks great and has no reliability, then this is your car. More than frustrated. I feel as though I was taken advantage of. This car has more things falling off than my trees in fall. Service dept doesnt want to deal with it anymore, they told me its normal wear and tear. AFTER LESS THAN A YEAR?! Steering fluid replacement and brakes after only 20K. Again, was told its normal. I never got over 15 MPG. For the amount of gas it takes, I would prefer an Excursion or Hummer.
