Pros: AWD with tons of torque
Cons: Vehicle seems less stable @ +110mph due - could be solved w/suspension upgrade
Advice: Skip carbon fiber trim and get the suspension upgrade + performance muffler
I replaced my 1998 Honda Prelude Type SH with this vehicle and never looked back. The straight line acceleration is incredible with minimal engine noise (unlike the Prelude VTEC)...and the AWD allows me an additional 10-20 mph cornering speed on my favorite roads. It is also a very friendly day-to-day driver...easy to get in and out of, 4 doors, large trunk, etc. Acquire one if you have the means. I cannot wait to drive it everyday!!Pros: Mix of power and handling
Cons: sound of the trunk
Advice: keep an eye on your speedometer!
My first experience of the WRX was on a drive from Santa Fe to Taos, NM. Traffic was crawling up the twisty Rio Grande Gorge at around 50mph with little chance to overtake. Finally as a clear straight came up I chopped down a couple of gears and the turbo kicked in like a swift kick in the pants. Before I knew it the car accelerated to 90 and I was back in my lane safe and sound. I was sold!!! The chassis is great, providing sure-footed handling. The seats are very comfortable and the Momo steering wheel is sweet. Sure, there are a couple of quibbles - the doors and trunk are pretty tinny and the body is an acquired taste (which did grow on me) but overall I cannot think of any car that offers as much fun for the buck as the WRX on the American market. How about a Mitsi Evolution, Nissan Godzilla or Lotus Elise for the U.S. market to see what the rest of the world gets?!?Pros: performance - turbo boost
Cons: cheap interior plastic - cupholder
Advice: You will not regret it - if you do not buy it from Subaru of Wakefield, MA
EXCELLENT RIDE!!! Great price for the quality performance and power! The appearance grows on you! :) The interior quality and design could be better! Great car .... would have gotten one if I did not have such a bad experience at the Subaru of Wakefield, MA dealers. If they do not change their attitude of doing business. We will have a wonderful prodcut sold buy a bunch of slackers and horrible people. That means bad for the product. What a shame. IT IS A WONDERFUL CAR. I will try another dealer!Pros: all wheel drive
Cons: the price was a bit steep
Advice: Drive it!
The outback had great power! It's comfortable, elegant and handles easily. It is a great combination of luxury car and SUV.Pros: 4-wheel drive
Cons: Lack of heated seats and sunroof
Advice: Be sure you need this performance and check room
Nice performing car. Not so good gas mileage or ride quality though.Pros: Drive feel
Cons: Lack of sunroof & heated seat's options. Also back seats a little hard to get into.
Advice: Definitely worth a test drive.
This car is wonderful. It has more overall power than most people need. While it's not superfast when you first step on the gas, it picks up steam quickly. The handling was great, good road feel. The seats hug your body and are supportive. The sound system is good, but a bit bassy for my tastes. Rear seats fold flat - a nice feature.
