Cons: Keyless Entry is only complaint!The Jag XK is a great car, but the Keyless Entry is a piece of junk. Give me an old fashioned key to start the engine!
Deferred Dream Realized
Pros: The magnificently tuned ride and suspension.
Cons: Have yet to discover anything I don't like.As a member of the college graduate class of 1967, I saw myself as soon earning 10K a year and driving an XKE, but there was the war in Viet Nam, then law school, then family and always something that took priority. Forty years later the XKE had been long replaced by the XK8: well worth the wait!
Pros: The paddle shifting is revolutionary. The handling is sure and forgiving. It is quiet inside.
Cons: The seat will not recline enough for me to be comfortable & is too narrow in the shoulders.
Advice: If all they have is black and grayThe Jaguar has a quiet roar which betrays a well-bred confidence. It is a gentlemen's car without being quite tame. It trounces without showing off. The new 5 litre V-8 in the 2010 is very responsive and can get 24 mpg on the highway. I have never seen a car merit such reverent attention and respect.
Pros: Beautiful looks and great handling
Cons: The monitor is hard to read in the bright sun
Advice: Get on the list now!The new XK is a wonderful car with a comfortable interior and fantastic handling. It is very quick and the throttle response is excellent. It is much better looking than a 911 and it has everything you need--except a high end stereo--as standard while the Porsche has very overpriced options that would be needed to make it comparable. This is a great car that turns heads everywhere it goes!
Cons: integrated NAV
Advice: use the nav/audio/hvac while driving--switch back and forth from Nav to turn heat or a/c on and off--consider whether this will bother you while driving in every day trafficHave owned the 07 Jag conv. for 2 weeks now. Classy, very nice driving car--improvement in handling over prior model is amazing--no cowl shake--feels like solid piece of aluminum--paddle shifters change gears amazingly fast. But in my opinion, the entire experience is severely marred by irritation of integrated NAV/audio/hvac--must go through minimum 3 screens just to turn heat or a/c on or off--extremely irritating and unsafe to have to look at screen so long while driving--also cannot see screen in sun--probably would not buy car again b/c of this---too bad, b/c otherwise is a truly fantastic car.

Cons: foot room/ comfort level - would be better if the seats went back another 2 inches
Advice: If you are looking for a coupe hardtop, plan on buying it usedI have a 76 XJ12L. I love the way it drives. Have also been driving Nissan Zs since 73. Now have 2 86' 300 Zs with 250 K miles on each. First stop to look for their replacement was the JAG dealer. I was shocked to find that in the XK8 there is so little foot room down by the pedals that I could not move my foot (size 10 1/2) from the gas to the brake without it getting hung up. Major safety issue, obviously. I almost did not want to drive it off the lot. It drove wonderfully, however the foot space problem presisted even after driving it for a while. Only problem I had with the handling with the automatic trans shifted gears at a way way to low RPM. If you have driven sticks for as long as I have, that was a noticable problem.THe red line on the Jag was 6500 and it was shifting around 3000. When I told the saleman about this he said that was normal. When I started shifting manually and showed him what the car could really do when you pushed the RPMs, he turned slate white. He obviously had not seen the car driven to the end of the envelope. Even with the trans issue I would buy this car if there was more foot room. I sat in a new XK8L after this test drive and that model did not have the foot space problem, but I already have a 'limo' XJ12 so would not consider that as a replacement for my Zs. This is a wonderful car and I would strongly recommend it to anyone (with small feet). One other disappointing fact which I should mention is that the only XJ8 model they have available brnad new is the convertable. If you want a brand new coupe hard top they are telling you to forget it unless you want to want until 2007. (This review was done in Oct 05. ) I would not buy the convertable - there is no roll bar at all, and the theft hazard is too much for me. However, with the top up the car did drive as if it was a hard top -no extra noise even at 70 mph
