Pros: Comfortable seats with 10 way power and heat
Cons: Door pulll and door opening handles are designed by idiots and put in the least accessible spots
Advice: Think about the poor fuel economy if you have any concerns about the price of gas!
Slight stumble on initial cold drive off. Fuel economy fair to poor in city (12 mpg) and sub-par on Hwy (17). However, this is a sweet vehicle to drive. Very comfortable and handles well for a relatively large vehicle. Gripes - turn signal/wiper stalk is way too high to reach. Idiotic placement of door unlock and door pull handles make for problems when trying to catch a door that suddenly swings open. Dash is too flat, reflects on windshield. Other than that I'm really enjoying this SUV. -

Pros: 6 speed trans get good gas milage for a V-8
Cons: Don't like the inside door handles, look strange and some of the edges seem sharp.
Advice: There are many options, check around and only get what you need.
Has a very nice ride for an SUV, got the eddie bauer model with a v-8 and all the extras. Automatic 4 wheel drive works great in the snow. I love everything except two things. The body panels don't line up good and the optional 6 disk in dash changer seems cheep and has problems especially with reading MP3 disks. -

Advice: much easier to fold rear seat and shorter turning radius than similar vehicles from jeep and gm
Good power for towing and merging plus surprisingly good gas mileage(almost 22 mpg on a recent trip) for a vehicle with 295 horsepower.The power fold flat rear seat is a neat option. -
2002 Ford Explorer - Limited 4x4
Pros: Steering wheel controls
Cons: transmission
Advice: Questions about reliability of drivetrain. Better quality vehicles out there
Beware of transmission problems mine was acting up about 40000 now I need a replacement at 58000 ($3125.00) Ford has one of the worst warrantys in the business 3yrs-36000 There is something wrong with 2002 and up Explorers transmissions just Google it. -
2004 Ford Explorer - XLT 4.0L (220A) 4x4
Pros: I like the whole package.
Cons: That my keyless entry was not included.
Advice: Make sure that there are no hidden problems if used.
When I did the test drive, it was great. -
2004 Ford Explorer - XLT 4.6L (225A) 4x4
Pros: rear split folding seat
Cons: acceleration/shifting
Advice: Go buy a Chevy Dodge or Jeep
If you don't mind not being able to change lanes in traffic and having it in for service many times than this is the vehicle for you. There is about a 5 second delay when you floor it trying to make a move. By then your chance is gone. This is not a vehicle you want if you are towing either. The shifting gets even worse!!!! -

Advice: Beware!
Good SUV, but seems really cheap. I cant wait to get rid of it. The brakes churp and dealership says that nothing is wrong. Tje transmission seems to slip every once in a while. Once in 2nd gear there is a rattle and no one seems to know where it comes from. If your someone that hates when little things go wrong, DONT BUY!
