compact SUV done right
Pros: overall appearence
Cons: seats a little too firm on lengthy tripsOur Equinox LTZ handles well with plenty of power from 4 cyl engine very good interior and overall fit and finish. have driven approx 3400 miles to date but not so sure about 32 mpg claim
Pros: Love the way it drives and handles
Cons: Acceleration and rear view obstruction when backingCar looks very nice; however, the black color looks like an Orca Whale. Best to go with a lighter color (white or silver). Accelertion is poor due to the 2.73 rear end. Bet gas mileage would be just as good with a 3.23 and the acceleration would be a class leader.
Pros: being able to check gas mileage and tire pressure whenever i want to
Cons: I don't like the silver button on the dashboard compartment
Advice: It is easy to park and very stabile when driving in the rain.I test drove this car and liked it and purchased it. It is gradually increasing in gas mileage as i get use to driving it. The ride is a little harder then i am use to since this is the first SUV i have ever owned. It is great if you have problems getting out of the lower sedans and helps someone who has knee problems tremendously.
Pros: XM Radio
Cons: Storage area behind back seat.
Advice: If you are looking for a comfortable high tech vehicle with plenty of leg room front and back, this is the car for you.Chevrolet has done a masterful job of providing the driver with a cabin that is comfortable and quiet. I hate to leave my car when listening to the XM radio and hearing music the way it was supposed to be heard. You're like in your own world where you can forget about the business around you. It's amazing that GM could put so many high tech features in a car of this price. I took it for a 400 mile trip as soon as I got it and completely enjoyed every mile. My first tank of gas gave me only 25MPG so I hope I can increase those numbers on my next trip. The only negative I can point out is that the width of the storage space behind the back seat is much smaller than other SUV's I've owned.
Pros: It rides smoothly when it is working good.
Cons: The noise it makes when I start driving from my brakes.
Advice: Please ensure that you have a quality vehicle before you pull off that lot!!1I purchased a 2006 Equinox in June of 2006. I have encountered numerous problems with it and I have not been assisted by GM warranty department. My brakes pulsate, and my turning radius makes noises when I turn to the right, not the type of clicking associated with bad CV joints. My transmission is appearing to be slipping and I was told by one mechanic that the transmission is sealed and is supposed to be maintenance free.
Pros: The rental car I get when I take it in for service
Cons: Mechanic Probelms
Advice: Dont buy this carThe exterior of the car looks okay. Not to many problems with the exterior. Mechanically it has been an absolute nightmare. The engine is hard to start when warm, or when the weather is cold. The back has a squeak, or rattling noise when I go over bumps. The CD player has burned up 3 times already. I have a transmission that has problems shifting from 2-3rf gear. The engine constantly has a squeak or small knock when started. The interior is cheap and very hard to keep clean. GAS MILEAGE SUCKS. Dealer cannot 'duplicate' any of these problems, and denies anything is wrong. They have had the car in service more than I have The only reason this car is somewhat decent is because it kept me alive in an accident where a jeep wrangler T-boned me right on the drivers side door. I walked out with nothing more than a stiff neck. Other than that
Cons: Color of the instrument panel lights (I like amber)
Advice: Every brand has lemonsJust bought the LS AWD. I had test driven this car and had been looking at another vehicle to purchase for about 1 year. Our other car is a Nissan Altima 2.5S. I am 6'1' and weigh about 250. This Equinox fits me like a glove. I have 2 children (6yrs & 19mo) and I can fit a car seat, child and adult with plenty of room in the back seat. I traded in a Caravan for this and though I am loosing the third row seat, the overall comfort for everyone has improved. I can't say as to how reliable it will be, though I think that has more on how you keep up on maintenance than anything else. I also tested allot of other vehicles before choosing this one. Style, comfort, safety, ride and driveability won me over big time. Also, while it doesn't have as high of HP as some other V6 SUV's in it's class, the (higher than most) torque will push you back in your seat and put a little smile on your face when you punch it from a stop. ( The FWD models can squeal the tires a little )
