Pros: The overall design of the vehicle
Cons: The difficulty in getting it
Advice: Find a good dealer first...I know, hard to do these days.Very smooth ride, handles excellently. Never been more comfortable in a vehicle before.
Pros: Exterior appeal
Advice: Test drive one and you'll be hooked!Bought an Equinox about a month ago. Love It! I went with the silver AWD LT Version. Ride quality is excellent, very acceptable gas milege. I use mine for traveling for my job, generally 700 miles per week, and have been VERY pleased with the gas milege- around 24 HWY and 19 CTY. Engine performance is also VERY good, brakes outstanding, awesome radio and CD player, loads of room up front and in the rear. The tailights are especially cool, they have that aftermarket; crystal look to them. Everyone I know likes it. For the money (and gas milege) this is an excellent choice. I wanted a Trailblazer, but they were much too expensive. Well recommended vehicle, especially the AWD version.
Pros: The style is sharp.
Cons: I dislike the feel of the transmission as it shifts particularly from 1st to 2nd.
Advice: Do your research and talk to other owners. Test drive. The Equinox is a stylish vehicle with a good price. However, I feel that the ride while smooth is disrupted as the transmission shifts gears. It feels like I am shifting a standard transmission. Features I like include the roomy interior, the adjustable back seat, and the shelf in the rear that is carpeted on one side and plastic on the other. This allows me to haul plants and dirt without messing up the interior.
Pros: The sliding rear seat.
Cons: The oversized rear headrests :(
Advice: Do research before buying. Check some owner sites like equinoxcentral.com before choosing. The ride is very comforable and the seats are also very comfortable. I checked out some other owner forum reviews on the internet before buying so I would know what to expect and what to be looking for. I find that the window ledge is almost to high to rest my arm on and had to use the arm rest instead. I found that my right shoulder was a little sore and I figured out why after getting back into my Accord this morning. In the Equinox I was sitting lower underneath the steering than the Accord. I will try to raise myself a liitle higher next time or see if the steering wheel adjusts up.
Pros: Overall ride on the highway
Cons: No indicator of when the on-demand AWD is engaged
Advice: Check out the back seat room!Replaced my 2000 Chevy Tracker (my wife now drives it) with an Equinox LS AWD with the 1SB package. Wonderful truck for the money. Very good gas mileage (I'm currently averaging 22 mpg with less than 2K miles on it).
Pros: More than adequate leg and head room (lots of leg room in the back seat!) and the slick body styling.
Cons: The cloth interior has a rough texture and looks cheap; also needs more (and sturdier) cup holders...I would suggest that the center section in the back seat fold down for arm rest and additional cup holders.
Advice: The Equinox is heads above the other smaller SUVs...it is a better comparison to the Nissan Murano or other mid-sized car based SUVs. End result for me is that I could get many more of the additional features (XM radio, OnStar, Leather seats) for less $.The price point on this vehicle is great for what you get versus the competitors. The features came closest to the Lexus but without the price tag. I also enjoyed the smooth ride the Equinox delivered -- just hope that reliability is good since this is a new model.
Cons: Not sure bout the recessed windshield - How hard will snow removal be??
Advice: Drive one!Saw it at the Cleveland Auto Show - Test drove and ordered one 03-21-04 (the Spring Eqinox). So far so good. Handles well, getting good gas mileage, and my BIG kids love the leg room in the back seat.
