Pros: sliding second raw seat and comfortable legroom
Cons: stereo controls are confusing
Advice: Buy it!We got our equinox last march, and we did not experienced any problems with it. The car is very nice to drive, agile and has good accelaration. We use it 5 days a week at about 40 miles per day, mostly on highway. Our average gas milage is 18 miles/gal, and I think it's within normal for 3.4 liter engine.
Cons: Poor roadability
Advice: Don't buy itPurchased an Equinox after a short test drive. First impression was good, promised up to 26 miles per gallon. Test drive took place in the city. What a shock I was in for! On the open highway, the Equinox was extremely noisy. The radio had to be yurned up to overcome the ever-increasing engine or transmission whine. No coat-hangars in the back seat and no cigar-lighter in the front to plug in my radar-detecter unless I wanted a 3-ft cord reaching across the front seat to a location under the front console to a useless plug. HOWEVER, the worst feature is how easy the car sways from side to side if you make any quick turns of the wheel. Watch this folks, you'll flip this baby if you try to avoid an accident. I'm retired and don't drive recklessly but this SUV is DANGEROUS! Definitely recommend you try another vehicle that is less-likely to FLIP! All in all, the Equinox is cheaply built, everything is made of plastic, and you don't even have power window button lights to let you know which button to push to lower which window! NEVER AGAIN!
Pros: xm sat. radio
Cons: wheel falling off, what else
Advice: stay away from vehicle. if you own one, have it looked at immediatelya-arm, front left side broke at welded joint causing entire wheel assembly to fall 'off'!! fortunately only going 15 mph instead of 65mph!! very uncomfortable seating, lousy braking system
Pros: rear seat
Cons: gas milage
Advice: if you want to save money on gas than this suv is not for youIt seems like a nice suv. runs perfect except gas milage . the gas milage they state is not right so far . other than that its a nice looking car.I did not have any problems yet and i am hoping to keep it that way. so far i love my Equinox.
Pros: COMFORTABLE RIDE
Cons: THE BACK HATCH DOES NOT OPEN ALL THE WAY UP WITH THE REMOTE
Advice: HAVE SALESPERSON GO OVER ALL THE OPTIONS ON THE CAR...LOTS OF THINGS TO LEARN....ONSTAR..SATELLITE RADIO..ETC.JUST PURCHASED THIS GREAT CROSSOVER VEHICLE. I LOVE THE STYLISH APPEARANCE AND THE INTERIOR HAS THE LOOK OF A MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE RIDE. I NEEDED ROOM TO CARRY ALL MY SHOPPING GOODIES AND ROOM FOR LOTS OF LUGGAGE ON TRIPS, BUT WANTED THE COMFORTABLE RIDE OF A NICE CAR....FOUND IT ALL.
Cons: False gas mileage claims
Advice: STAY AWAY!AWD drive is nice function. Gas mileage supposed to be 19 to 24. We get 12 in town and 15 hiway. GM says they know there's a mileage problem on a few of these cars, but don't know how to fix it. We've had as low as 10.5mpg. Lots of rattles inside. Front suspension was loose, cruise has broken, all with less than 6000 miles, and four months. GM engineers have been all over car to fix gas mileage, but to no avail. With gas prices as such, and the false advertising claims, the gas mileage issue is serious. Stereo is great. Handles ok. Rear storage is small with inconvenient shelving. I'm trading this for a Mercury Mariner Premier, which costs less, rides better, gets better gas mileage. Stay away from the Equinox.
Pros: Engine response and mileage
Cons: Back seats do not fold down completely to form a bed
Advice: Look at other cars, possibly Chrysler or ToyotaGood car but why didn't GM apply a sound-proofing to the underside of the body before assembling? Extremely noisy to the point that the radio has to be turned up to hear it once under way. A cheap fix, but well worth it. Also, so much plastic....everywhere!
