Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Hate the auto shut off and have NEVER exceeded 22mpg highway or city, not close to the advertised mpg. Pay extra for the bigger engine by skipping the Nav system which is not the greatest, so I use WAZE instead. Car drives fantastic in Sports mode, cargo space is limited as and you cant reach in the back if seated due to low ceiling. Run flat tires deflate in extreme temp drops and the dashboard lights up telling you are flat. I use 89 gas and BMW concierge for service is worthless.
Misses out not having lumbar seat and automatic garage door opener. Other than that great pick-up and excellent highway handle. True to its claims of 25+ highway mileage.
An expensive mistake
Pros: Interior
Cons: reliability
It would take a month of Sundays to list what did go wrong with this car. When it works it's great..Great Vehicle
Pros: Miles per Gallon
Cons: It sports the same steering wheel and controls as my old 1999 528i. In seven years they can't upgrade or improve?
The X3 is comfortable, roomy in the front, and a great driver. I have read reports that the ride is harsh, but I don't feel it is bad at all. Steering is tight and responsive and the ride is what is expected from a small SUV. It is more a utility vehicle than luxury, but fit and finish is nice. Excellent gas mileage for it's class. I get as much as 27 on the highway, but average between 24 - 26. All around averaging 19-21. Can't beat that for the power it has from the 3.0l.Best All-Around Sporty Family Vehicle
Pros: the combo of comfort, practicality and sportiness
Cons: in more remote areas had problems finding the premium+ fuel I preferred
I've owned some vehicles that I really appreciated and enjoyed, but my X3 2.5i beat all the others by a mile! I did a mixture of mostly rural-and-suburban driving, with an occasional ('bout twice-or-thrice a month) foray into urban driving, and *averaged* about 22-23 mpg. When I went on trips I could count on 25-26 mpg! I took a long trip out west to the Rockies in the summer of '06 and found that my X3 *loved* high-altitudes combined with temps around 90F. -- average mpg: 28, *and* had passing power on the up-grades!Pros: Saddle Brown Interior ( Leather )
Cons: Absent Automatic Tailgate feature.
Great Vehicle, fun to drive, no negativesPros: seat memory
Cons: bouncy ride
would be nice if the rear seats could lay flat for more cargo space
