New Car Rebates and Incentives: November 21, 2013

Creeping up on Black Friday sees automakers renewing their rebates and incentives on new cars and new trucks.  This week, we begin our list with the 2014 Kia Cadenza full-size sedan and its offer of 0.9% financing plus $1,000 cash back, or the choice of $1,500 in total factory cash.  Next up is the 2014 Buick Regal mid-size sedan, which provides available 1.9% financing or $500 cash back, followed by the 2014 GMC Acadia full-size crossover and its zero percent financing plus $500 in cash rebates or $2,000 total factory cash offer.  The 2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata compact roadster bows with a $2,000 cash rebate off its window sticker, while the 2013 Ford Transit Connect compact van comes through with the choice between 0.0% financing or a respectable $1,500 in cash back.

2014 Kia Cadenza

The 2014 Kia Cadenza is a full-size luxury sedan that combines a long list of standard features with a reasonable purchase price.  The Kia Cadenza is roomy and comfortable, and it’s also one of the best-looking cars in the Kia stable.

All versions of the 2014 Kia Cadenza are motivated by the same 3.8-liter V-6.  This motor has been tuned to provide 293 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque.  A six-speed automatic transmission handles the shifting duties for the Cadenza, and fuel mileage for the sedan is listed at 19-mpg around town and 28-mpg on the highway.

2014 Buick Regal

The 2014 Buick Regal is a mid-size four-door car that delivers premium comfort and above-average handling.  The Buick Regal GS trim further enhances the car’s performance and makes it a legitimate sport sedan contender.

The 2014 Buick Regal’s base engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that can be relied on for 259 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.  It’s also possible to order a hybrid eAssist drivetrain that consists of a battery-powered electric motor and a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder gasoline unit that together produce 182 horses and 172 lb-ft of torque while returning 27-mpg city and 36-mpg highway.  Transmission choices for the Regal include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic, and all-wheel drive is also optional with turbocharged versions of the car.

2014 GMC Acadia

The 2014 GMC Acadia is that rarest of beasts – a full-size, eight-passenger crossover that drivers far more like a car than an SUV.  Also capable of carrying up to 116 cubic feet of cargo, the GMC Acadia is a practical, and when ordered in Denali trim, luxurious family hauler.

The 2014 GMC Acadia benefits from the installation of a 3.6-liter V-6 that generates 288 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque.  A six-speed automatic transmission is standard with the Acadia, and all-wheel drive can be ordered as an option.  Fuel mileage for the crossover is listed at 17-mpg in stop and go driving and 24-mpg during highway cruising.

2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata

The 2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata provides one of the purest driving experiences on the market.  This two-door roadster’s nimble handling and available power-retractable hard top (a recent addition to its options sheet) have helped to make it a segment leader ever since it was first introduced to the market in 1989.

The 2013 Mazda MX-5 Miata’s 167 horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine also generates 140 lb-ft of torque (when equipped with a five or six-speed manual transmission – the six-speed automatic drops output by a small amount).  Without much mass to move around, this allows the Miata to feel quite zippy under full throttle, and fuel economy for the roadster shows as 22-mpg around town and 28-mpg on the highway.

2013 Ford Transit Connect

The 2013 Ford Transit Connect is a European-style compact van that can be had in both cargo and passenger configurations.  The Ford Transit Connect is capable of transporting up to five passengers or hauling 135 cubic feet of gear.

The 2013 Ford Transit Connect is more frugal at the fuel pump than many other vans, posting efficiency figures of 21-mpg in city driving and 27-mpg on the highway.  This is made possible by the vehicle’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which generates a modest 136 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque.  Front-wheel drive and a four-speed automatic are standard with the Transit Connect.
