New Car Rebates and Incentives: July 18, 2013

July's heat has translated into an astonishing number of rebates and incentives on brand new cars and trucks as automakers do their best to entice summer shoppers with excellent deals.  Our list of bargains begins this week with the 2013 Ford Escape compact crossover, which features the choice between zero percent financing plus $2,000 cash back or $2,500 in total cash back.  Next up is the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro compact coupe and its 0.0% financing or $1,500 cash back offer, followed by the 2013 Chrysler 300 full-size sedan and its 0.0% financing plus $750 cash back or available $3,250 in total cash rebates.  The last two models in our most recent round-up are the 2013 Kia Forte compact coupe (0.9% financing plus $750 cash back) and the 2013 Mazda MAZDA3 compact sedan and hatchback (0.0% financing plus $500 factory cash back, or $1,500 in total cash back).

2013 Ford Escape

The 2013 Ford Escape is an all-new compact crossover that combines family-oriented utility (five passenger seating, 68.1 cubic feet of total cargo space) with a car-like ride that is comfortable and nimble compared to the previous model.  The Ford Escape also offers a number of high tech options, including the MyFord Touch system as well as automatic parallel parking.

The 2013 Ford Escape features the choice between three four-cylinder engines.  A base 2.5-liter unit generates 168 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque, while a 1.6-liter turbocharged mill ups the ante to 178 horses and 184 lb-ft of torque.  The top-tier 2.0-liter mill provides 240 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of twist, and of the three the 1.6-liter offers the most appealing fuel mileage (23-mpg city / 33-mpg highway).  A six-speed automatic transmission is standard with all versions of the Escape, and turbocharged models feature the option of all-wheel drive.

2013 Chevrolet Camaro

The 2013 Chevrolet Camaro provides the choice between stylish commuter or fire-breathing muscle coupe.  The two-door Chevrolet Camaro's entry-level V-6 model is a worthy daily driver, and the stiffer suspension and increased power of the SS trim introduces a high level of performance to the car's overall package.

The 2013 Chevrolet Camaro is initially outfitted with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine that is good for 232 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque, along with fuel economy figures of 19-mpg in city driving and 30-mpg on the highway.  The Camaro SS gains a 6.2-liter V-8 that churns out 426 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque.  Each of these motors can be matched with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

2013 Chrysler 300

The 2013 Chrysler 300 is a full-size sedan that edges into the premium space when ordered in its higher trim levels.  It's also possible to squeeze respectable acceleration and handling out of the roomy family car thanks to the presence of the Chrysler 300C in the lineup.

The 2013 Chrysler 300 starts out with a 292 horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 under its long hood.  This unit also generates 260 lb-ft of torque, and it provides fuel economy of 19-mpg around town and 31-mpg during highway cruising.  An eight-speed automatic transmission is included free of charge with the V-6.  The Chrysler 300 can also be equipped with a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 that produces 363 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque, and this motor is matched to a five-speed automatic.  Both engines can be had with the option of all-wheel drive.

2013 Kia Forte

The 2013 Kia Forte is an affordable compact car that can be had in sedan, coupe (or Koup) and hatchback editions.  The Kia Forte SX, the sportiest version of the car, provides buyers with the chance to pilot something a little more interesting than the base model without breaking the bank, while the hatchback adds 44.2 cubic feet of total cargo space to the equation.

The 2013 Kia Forte debuts with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder as its standard engine.  Rated at 156 horsepower and 144 lb-ft of torque, the unit also delivers 26-mpg in stop and go driving and 36-mpg on the highway when matched with its optional six-speed automatic transmission (a six-speed manual is included with the car).  The Forte SX graduates to a 2.4-liter mill that provides 173 horsepower and 168 lb-ft of torque, and it features the same transmission choices found with the entry-level car.

2013 Mazda MAZDA3

The 2013 Mazda MAZDA3 is another compact car that can be had in more than one body style.  The Mazda MAZDA3 sedan and the Mazda MAZDA3 hatchback are both well-rounded entry-level models that offer better-than-average handling when compared against other inexpensive cars in their class.

The 2013 Mazda MAZDA3's 2.0-liter, four-cylinder base engine offers up 148 horsepower and 135 lb-ft of torque, while a separate 2.0-liter unit adds Skyactiv technology to the mix to increase output to 155 horses and 148 lb-ft of torque.  The latter is also more fuel efficiency, with a rating of 28-mpg city and 39-mpg highway.  The MAZDA3 can additionally be ordered with a 167 horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder motor that also produces 168 lb-ft of twist.  Base models are equipped with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic transmission, while all other editions gain an extra forward gear for each respective box.
