New Car Rebates and Incentives: January 3, 2014

We're ringing in 2014 with a fresh list of rebates and incentives on new cars and new trucks designed to help you save cash on your first major purchase of the new year.  Kicking things off is the 2014 Dodge Durango full-size SUV, which provides the choice between either zero percent financing or $1,000 in cash back, followed by the 2014 Jeep Cherokee compact crossover and its 0.9% financing or $500 in factory cash back offer.  The 2014 Hyundai Genesis full-size sedan presents buyers with the option of 2.9% financing combined with $1,000 in cash back, or a $1,000 total cash rebate, while the 2014 Toyota Camry mid-size sedan provides zero percent financing or a total of $1,000 cash back.  The last vehicle on our list is the 2014 Chrysler 200 convertible, which features 0.9% financing or $1,000 in factory cash rebates.

2014 Dodge Durango

The 2014 Dodge Durango is a full-size SUV that offers a smooth ride thanks to its unibody platform.  It also manages to provide considerable utility in the form of a 7,400 lbs maximum tow rating, available seven passenger seating, and up to 84.5 cubic feet of total cargo space.

The 2014 Dodge Durango starts out with a 3.6-liter V-6 under the hood, and this unit has been tuned to provide as much as 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque.  A 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 can also be installed in the Durango, and it boosts output to 360 horses and 390 lb-ft of torque.  Fuel mileage for the V-6 carries the day with a rating of 18-mpg city and 25-mpg highway, and while a new eight-speed automatic transmission is standard across the board for 2014, four-wheel drive remains optional.

2014 Jeep Cherokee

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee is all new for the current model year, and this compact crossover features extroverted styling along with a surprising level of off-road competence when ordered in Trailhawk trim.  All versions of the Jeep Cherokee feature five passenger seating and 54.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear row folded forward.

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee's entry-level engine is a 184 horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder unit.  Also capable of producing 171 lb-ft of torque, this motor returns fuel mileage of 21-mpg around town and 28-mpg on the highway.  A more robust 3.2-liter V-6 is also available, and it churns out a healthy 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft of twist.  Four-wheel drive can be had with the Cherokee in two different flavors, and a startling nine-speed automatic transmission handles the shifting duties for the small crossover.

2014 Hyundai Genesis

The 2014 Hyundai Genesis is a full-size luxury sedan that undercuts the competition when it comes to price, yet over-delivers in terms of features.  The Hyundai Genesis is also available in the sporty 5.0 R-Spec edition, which ups performance by way of a stiffer suspension system and quicker steering.

The 2014 Hyundai Genesis is initially outfitted with a 3.8-liter V-6 that is good for 333 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque, along with a fuel mileage rating of 18-mpg in city driving and 28-mpg on the highway.  The 5.0 R-Spec turns things up a notch with a 5.0-liter V-8 that offers 429 ponies and 376 lb-ft of torque.  Each engine is matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

2014 Toyota Camry

The 2014 Toyota Camry is one of the most popular mid-size family cars on the market.  The Toyota Camry's spacious four-door accommodations, comfortable ride, conservative styling, and strong reputation for reliability are its most compelling attributes.

The 2014 Toyota Camry's 2.5-liter, four-cylinder base engine generates 178 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque while providing fuel mileage of 25-mpg in stop and go driving and 35-mpg on the highway.  More grunt is available from the Camry's optional 3.5-liter V-6, which checks in with 268 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque.  A six-speed automatic transmission comes with both Toyota drivetrains.

2014 Chrysler 200 Convertible

The 2014 Chrysler 200 Convertible is one of the few affordable, four-passenger drop-tops on the market.  The Chrysler 200 Convertible also offers buyers the choice between either a traditional soft top, or a power retractable hard top, with the latter introducing true four seasons capability for the open air model.

The most affordable version of the 2014 Chrysler 200 Convertible is equipped with a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that is rated at 173 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque.  It's also possible to introduce a little excitement into the convertible's driving experience by way of its optional 283 horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6, which also produces 260 lb-ft of torque.  A six-speed automatic transmission comes with both motors, while the V-6's fuel mileage of 19-mpg city and 29-mpg highway squeaks ahead of the smaller engine.
