New Car Rebates and Incentives: August 22, 2013

August is winding down but the rebates and incentives on new cars and new trucks are staying strong.  Our look at this week's best bargains starts out with the 2013 Hyundai Genesis full-size sedan and its offer of 2.9% financing plus $1,000 cash back or $1,000 in total cash rebates.  Next up is the 2013 Ford Taurus full-size sedan and its strong zero percent financing plus $2,250 in cash back or a hefty $5,500 in factory cash back, followed by the 2013 Nissan Maxima full-size sedan and its combination of 0.0% financing and $500 cash back or $1,500 in total cash back.  The 2013 Toyota Highlander full-size SUV delivers zero percent financing or the option of a $750 cash back rebate, while the 2013 Chrysler 200 mid-size convertible asks buyers to choose between 0.0% financing or $2,000 in cash back.

2013 Hyundai Genesis

The 2013 Hyundai Genesis offers luxury shoppers a high end full-size sedan at a price that is much more competitive than its European rivals.  The Hyundai Genesis is also quiet, stylish, and more nimble than its dimensions might suggest, and it features a generous load of standard equipment.

The 2013 Hyundai Genesis is initially outfitted with a 3.8-liter V-6 that provides 333 horsepower and 291 lb-ft of torque, along with fuel mileage figures of 18-mpg city and 28-mpg highway.  Stepping up to the 5.0 R-Spec trim installs a 5.0-liter V-8 that pumps out 429 horses and 376 lb-ft of torque.  Both engines are matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

2013 Ford Taurus

The 2013 Ford Taurus is a family car that provides generous interior room that makes hauling around five passengers a breeze.  The Ford Taurus SHO also introduces significantly more performance than one would expect from such a larger sedan.

The 2013 Ford Taurus starts out with a 290 horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 under the hood that can also be counted on to produce 255 lb-ft of torque.  Fuel economy for this model is listed at 19-mpg around town and 29-mpg on the highway.  The Taurus SHO benefits from a twin-turbo EcoBoost edition of this same motor, bringing total power production to 365 horses and 350 lb-ft of twist.  Each version of the Ford sedan comes with a six-speed automatic transmission, and while all-wheel drive is optional with the naturally-aspirated Taurus it is standard with the SHO model.

2013 Nissan Maxima

The 2013 Nissan Maxima provides full-size sedan shoppers with a bit more handling prowess than they would expect from this class of automobile.  The Nissan Maxima also stands out as the most luxurious four-door car offered by the Japanese brand, making it an upscale choice for buyers on a budget.

The 2013 Nissan Maxima comes exclusively with a 3.5-liter V-6 that generates 290 horsepower and 261 lb-ft of torque.  The Maxima's motor is matched with a continuously-variable automatic transmission, which helps it to turn in fuel mileage figures of 19-mpg in stop and go driving and 26-mpg on the highway.

2013 Toyota Highlander

The 2013 Toyota Highlander is a hit amongst families who can make the most of its three rows of seating.  With space for as many as seven passengers, the Toyota Highlander is a versatile full-size SUV, and folding those rear accommodations forward reveals 95.4 cubic feet of cargo space.

The 2013 Toyota Highlander's base 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine is its most efficient at 20-mpg city and 25-mpg highway, but with only 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque managed by a six-speed automatic transmission, it's not all that quick.  A better bet is the Highlander's 3.5-liter V-6, which produces 270 ponies and 248 lb-ft of torque while offering 18-mpg around town and 24-mpg on the highway.  A five-speed auto transmission is standard with the six-cylinder Highlander, and all-wheel drive becomes optional with this engine.

2013 Chrysler 200 Convertible

The 2013 Chrysler 200 convertible is an affordable drop top that provides legitimate four passenger capacity.  The Chrysler 200 convertible is also available with the choice of either a traditional cloth roof or a power retractable hard top.

A 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine is the base motor found motivating the 2013 Chrysler 200 convertible, and it can be relied on for 173 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque.  Fuel mileage for the unit is listed at 18-mpg city and 27-mpg highway.  A 3.6-liter V-6, good for 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, is a better choice for the convertible, and like the four-cylinder it is shifted via a six-speed automatic transmission.
