1999 Mitsubishi Montero - Base
Great quality and functionality for an SUV. As good as vehicles twice its price. At 175000 miles its engine is still strong with no oil leaks. Repairs are normal - brakes, tires, fluid changes. Radiator developed a leak but that is expected with age. Never overheated even going up mountains in 100+ temps and AC going. Tows utility trailer well with no issues. Great all weather vehicle. 4WD is excellent. Comfortable and secure on highway.

2004 Mitsubishi Outlander - XLS AWD
I bought my '04 outlander & enjoying it for 7yrs now! I did all the scheduled maintenance myself(oil and filter changed every 3000, air filter, brake pads, and fluid checks, & using fuel and engine cleaner/treatment additive often to keep the engine new) never had any mechanical problems! I replaced the battery once but that's just normal. The engine is strong and transmission feels like new & 1st ride always. The 1st smog result is like never been driven! WOW! I AM telling you about it! GET 1

Pros: heated seats
Cons: brakes squeek backing up on this model

Poor fuel economy

I bought this vehicle new in December 2010. The main selling point was the touted 31 mpg highway since I travel 100 miles a day. After 6000 miles I'm averaging 23 mpg! I have tried 60 - 70 on the highway with cruise control on and off with the same results. The dealer told me thats the best I could probably expect from the vehicle. Well if you like heated seats in the winter with 23 mpg, then this is the car for you. If your looking for close to 30mpg, then I suggest you look elsewhere!- Recommend this vehicle to a friend? No
