reliable
Pros: Appearance
Cons: Comfort
good suv.Pros: The sunroof
Cons: center console
Advice: Make sure you get the extended mile warranty
after having the vehicle for 60,000 miles, I noticed the transmission starting to slip. It got worse and worse as time went by until the truck would not engage in reverse. It would sit idle for about 30 seconds then kick in to gear. The vehicle would shake so bad the engine would turn right off. This whole ordeal ended up costing me 2,474 dollars!(without a military discount). So far, I haven't had any other problems with the SUV.Pros: The solid ride and looks
Cons: gas mileage
Advice: buy one ,one of the best looking SUV's on the road
Love the looks of my 2002 Montero Sport XLS,the 3.5 has plenty of power. Smooth and more quiet than my 2000 mazda 626 ES. Handles like a dream. Couldn't as for anything more, It's a 4X4 with class.Pros: Great Gas Mileage and Style
Cons: Instrument Cluster Could Use Some Updated Styling
Advice: GREAT SUV THAT YOU CAN PASS DOWN TO YOUR KIDS.
After test driving every SUV on the market, this was the best for the money. Mitsubishi has been building motors since the 1930's and has a large electronics industry...so they know what they are doing. The Monterro Sport has a great exterior design that is very stylish. The interior is very roomy and comfortable with a lot of storage areas. The Monterro gets surprisingly good gas mileage for a good size SUV where I am getting 20 mpg in town and 25 on the highway. As for quality, you just can't beat it. The Japanese know how to build cars that last 15 years and can take 200,000 miles and over. We live in Texas and have very hot summers. This SUV cools to ice cold in no time at all. The engine is designed to go 100,000 miles before a tune-up. It also comes with a 100,000 mile power train warranty. Overall it is a tuff SUV that can cruise the city and command the offroad trails. It is well built and way under priced for the quality. This SUV can stand against the Toyota 4 Runner and Nissan Pathfinder and when you look at the price comparison...there is no competition. You get a top quality SUV from a good company, that gets great gas mileage, has good styling, is a nice ride, and can take you anywhere.Pros: None
Cons: Engine problem starts within a second year. In some cases need to replace the engine at your cost.
Advice: do....not buy it.Good bye mitsubishi.........
need to improve their engine.Pros: Looks and build quality
Cons: nees more horsepower
Advice: Great SUV on a truck frame
This is the 3rd Monter Sport I have owned. All have been excellent vehicles. Only routine oil changes.
