Cons: brakes, size of the dash, engine noise, placement of cup holders and audio controls, auto lights
Advice: For what you pay, you get a lot, but shop around more than I did.
I previously drove a Montero Sport and was very impressed with it. After a three year lapse, I leased an Endevour this time. Although I am happy with the way it handles, its looks, and equipment, there are certain things I would most definitely like to see changed. The brakes require a good deal of force to stop. For power brakes I find this disconcerting. The top of the dash is ridiculously too large. I placed a large size pizza box on it quite comfortably. Perhaps if it were reduced by a foot, the entire vehicle could possibly be reduced by the same amount and it may improve gas mileage. The cup holders are placed in front of the gear shift level. I find this uncomfortable. If anything glaringly detracts from the looks of the vehicle it would be the roof rails. Many friends comment on the the roof rails resembling steam pipes. I have to agree. The engine is much too loud to suit me. The automatic lighting feature is much too complicated. The owners manual is confusing and does not help much in understanding this feature. I personally do not like the placement of the audio controls on the underside of the steering wheel. On the plus side: you get the feeling of being surrounded by glass. All around visibility from the inside is great and gives the impression of openness. The ride is comfortable even if the seats are a bit stiff.
