Great fun, terrific gas mileage and excellent sound system.Ease of putting top down is unbelievable almost as good as mercedes...brst bang for for buck..almost maintence free
Excellent car!
The sky is the limit!
Pros: Easy & quick open/close of the convertible top by the push of a button!
Cons: Small back seat. But it's a sports car, not an SUV :)
I just bought the Spyder yesterday and although I haven't owned it long, I can say that the features of answering my cell by push button/bluetooth and talking over the car speakers is great, the ride is really comfortable, the lines are sleek and I think I'll be riding with the top down most of the time in sunny San Diego! It's a fun and practical car rolled into one. I say check it out!Pros: Quick, no fuss automatic and hide-a-way top-down operation
Cons: Lower gas mileage than expected of 22MPG mixed city/hwy. Mileage has not gotten better with 8000 miles driven so far.
Advice: Think hard about buying the GT with the larger engine. My smaller GS engine was less expensive and has excellent acceleration without requiring Premium gas
I have had NO problems with torque steer some have complained about. Car drives perfectly with low road noise for a convertible. I love this drop-top. Sexy styling, easy top-down, AWESOME 650W - 9 speaker stereo, and good trunk space for a convertible. This car ROCKS!!! By the way, blind spots with the top up are normal for convertibles.Pros: Love the styling, color, fit, finish, mileage, stereo.
Cons: Steering pulls to left, hot seats, poor turning radius, no light in trunk
Advice: Test drive the car in the left lane of the freeway and release the wheel, (I didn't do this until after I bought the car), the pulls quite noticably to the left, requires CONSTANT pressure to keep straight.
I have had the car for only half of the month since I bought it. The rest of the time has been spent diagnosing why the car always pulls to the left, really bad in the left lane and even in the the far right lane. Several the dealer personal have driven the car and agree it pulls left. Test drove 4 other new Eclipses, they all do it. The deal sent me to a frame and alignment specialist. He tried to adjust but concluded there was not enough adjustment and that he could not make the car go straight down the road. The car is very fatiguing to drive. Mitsubishi sent an engineer and agreed on our test drive that it pulls left...engineered that way. Working on a solution but no caster adjustment. May have to return the car. Totally unacceptable as it is. Would Fabric seats do not breath very well, very hot.Pros: The entire package, styling, comfort and performance for a car of this price range.
Cons: Blind Spots (This impacts almost all convertibles when the top is up).
Advice: This car is GREAT, well built and has an awesome warranty that surpases it competition
I am the proud owner of a 2007 Mitsu Eclipse Sypder GT. I did alot of research on the Eclipse and also checked compeitors like the G6 Hardtop Convertible and the Sebring Convertible and neither one really had a quality feel to it. The G6 Seemed cheap and not well crafted and the Sebring seemed to be for an older crowd. The Eclipse Spyder GT has plenty of power and handles very well. I purchased one with the 5 speed sportronic shifter and it is easy to use. The construction of the spyder is solid and feels great. This is my 2nd Spyder and my 4th convertible and the top is by far the best on any I have ever owned, It is crafted with Acrylic to make it last longer and it doesnt leak and is sealed very well. Ergonomics are the interior are right where they should be and everything is easy to use and see. The MSRP on my Spyder was 33,700 with Aero Kit and all other options but the dealer was very motivated to sale so I left only paying 29,413 which is a couple of hundred more than that base GT Spyder without all the upgrades. The car is an excellent choice and I would highly recommend it.Pros: Convertable Top
Cons: Rear visability
Advice: I have owned 2 other Mitsus in the past and they never gave me any problems.
I traded in an 04 RX8 automatic for the Spyder GT automatic for several reasons; I usually trade every 2 years, I wanted a convertable which I have never owned before, and I did not like the Rotary engine with the 4 speed automatic. I find the Eclipse more comfortable and roomy inside. The power is smoother than the RX8, gas mileage is about the same. RX8 looks better IMHO. Spyder sounds better IMHO. Rear visability is poor in both, RX8 handled better. I have had no problems so far.
