    2006 MINI Cooper S - Base Hatchback

    Pros: The exterior

Cons: the poor quality and depreciation

Advice: It is a cute car but very high maintenance. Don't buy one if you don't have time to sit in the service center.

I love the look of the Mini and think it is the cutest car on the road. However, I was greatly disappointed in the qualty of its components. I have a rattle in the car that required five visits to the dealrship to fix and it is still not fixed. The radio went out and had to be replaced. The seat heater on the passenger side had to be replaced after three months. The clock was broken and had to be replaced. The air conditioner motor needs to be replaced. I need two front tires due uneven wearing - not sure why that happened. The dealership I use for service is sick of seeing me so often. I tried to trade it in for a new car, but the depreciation for only one year was $10,000.00! So I am stuck with a lemon, a cute lemon but a lemon non-the less. I just want to pay it off and get rid of it.

    2006 MINI Cooper S - Base Hatchback

    Pros: Super Charger

    Cons: Instrument Cluster

    Advice: Look at the mx-5

Nice car. But not as sporty as i imagined. 2006 MX-5 Miata is much more fun and a better value.

    2004 MINI Cooper - Base

    Pros: Looks/Handling

    Cons: Nothing

Advice: Just do your research before going to the dealership or they will really take advantage of you. Also if you are young like I am, you may want to take your parents with you.

This was the first time I went to any dealership, and I was looking for an upgrade from my 1994 Chevrolet Beretta. The first time I test drove the Mini I was hooked. Very roomy for a small car and although I'm not a fan of leather seats, I found them to be very comfortable. The car I test drove was the car I ended up purchasing. This car has a great resale value even though I plan on keeping mine forever! The handling is wonderful, the ride is smooth, and when I drive mine I feel like I am driving a go-kart. Very tight steering and cuts corners nicely. My last car was a 6 cylinder, but my mini can keep up just as good and gets great gas mileage. I find it perfect for my college/work lifestyle. The monthly payments are also very affordable.

    2006 MINI Cooper - Hatchback

    Pros: Handling is incredible

Cons: Honestly, not being able to drive it more and further

Advice: DO NOT test drive unless you are ready to buy one !!!!

The only reason I gave a 4 for performance is I got the Mini Cooper, not the S, for gas mileage. Words cannot describe how much FUN they are to drive. You cannot even feel the automatic CVT transmission shift unless you watch the tach. You can actually get the gas mileage they claim, sometimes even better. Leaving the house was never so much fun. Well, got to go get something at the store. Probably somewhere as far as possibe. TOO MUCH FUN FOR ONE CAR!!

    2005 MINI Cooper S - Convertible

    Pros: Top and handling

Cons: back up visibility, but you get used to it...love the back up sensors

Advice: If you want fun and economy with great handling - buy it!!

More fun to drive than my Audi TT Roadster...love the sunroof and top. Brakes, transmission and steering are all excellent. Always over 35 to the gallon..

    2006 MINI Cooper S - Base Hatchback

Pros: This car handles better than any car I have driven. Steering response is superb, since the lock to lock is 2.5 turns and the suspension system is designed to match.

Cons: Nothing- the car is outstanding.

Advice: Make sure you get limited slip differential and special suspension system. This allows crisp cornering.

I had a MIata. Wonderful car. The Mini takes corners with ease and always seems capable of more. The Mini S is very quick, has excellent acceleration and if one drives with care, high mileage is possible on the highway: 44.1 mpg one time, 41.5 another. Around my small town, 30mpg. Sound system is super. I enjoy feeling the road. Seats are very comfortable. Car has numerous safety features. Visibility is superior to that of vast majority of cars. Interior is roomy. We have taken four with ease and comfort. My son is 6/2 and he says it is the nicest car he has ever driven. Ride is quiet at high speeds. Corners are fun to take even just darting around town. My wife loves this car- she wants a Mini, too. Boot is roomy and the fold down seats create even more. This car is fun, efficient, adaptable and has personality other vehicles can only dream of.

    2006 MINI Cooper S - Convertible

    Pros: Performance.

Cons: Haven't found the down-side yet.

Advice: Don't expect to haul a 4x8 piece of plywood in it but it does just fine for a weekend's worth of bagage for me and the wife. The back seats will do OK for taking another couple to dinner but don't think you want to take anyone on a road trip back there.

I was looking at Mercedes SLKs and CLKs and BMW 3 series convertibles. But with gas prices what they are, I saw the Mini Cooper S (same dealership as the BMW) and fell in love with it. Handles great, accelerates like a rocket - couldn't justify the additional cost and it out-performs my '67 Triumph GT6.
