2004 Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class - Base
I love this car. Mine is silver colored, inside is dark grey leather and the dashboard has wooden panelling. It's sheer elegance. The driving comfort is superb, the automatic gear is superb, even in the mountains it reacts fast. There are two downsides: it has rear wheel drive, which is not ideal in snowy Switzerland, even with winter tires it skids on slush. And it does have its little issues from time to time - something I had not expected from Mercedez-Benz.

Zippy!!!
Pros: Retractable hardtop.
Cons: Airscarf. I'm short, so the airscarf blows into the back of my head instead of my neck.
Bought the car preowned, drove it when I bought it. No test drive whatsoever. When I saw it I said that's 'me'. It's a looker with the AMG /sports package. very responsive & fun to drive. Gets a lot of attention. seats are a bit firm for my taste. This is my feel good car.- Recommend this vehicle to a friend? Yes

Pros: the style
Cons: the cruise control set up - I often hit the cruise control instead of my turn signal.
I love my car! I bought it new in 2007, and I have put 20,000 miles on it. I love the way it drives, I enjoy the ease of the convertible hard top operation, and I especially like the gas mileage. It gets about 20 miles per gallon in town and 30 on the highway (cruising at about 60 -65 miles per hour). It is also relatively simple to operate. So far, I have had no mechanical issues. We'll see what happens when the warranty runs out.- Recommend this vehicle to a friend? Yes

Pros: The look
Cons: Everything about the car but the look
Advice: The Mercedes brand is going down.
The car has been in the shop 57 days since March'05 for problems ranging from a faulty EPS light to a pinging noise in the engine. It's a beautiful car (Launch Edition, brown Nappa leather on Pewter) but a piece of junk. It was my first experience with Mercedes and a big mistake. Sign me in when the marketing campaign for the Mercedes brand is 'Hate what you drive.' Shame on Mercedes Benz for putting a poor quality car on the market and charging premium price. -

Cons: Stereo
Advice: Check out the stereo. Harmon/Kardon available.. sounds a little better
Just got my hot new red SLK280.. for $4,000 less than the SLK350 there is virtually no difference. Same car smaller engine with only 20 less HP. Handles great, fast, sharp looking. Stereo system is a little weak, my SLK230 has a much more ambient sounding system. This is gonna be a hot item for Mercedes.. smart marketing :) -

Advice: Don't hesitate, buy it NOW
This is the ultimate 'stealth' roadster. It looks like a Barbie car, but runs like a Ferrari (actually faster than most of them). Quiet, smooth and refined, but a rocket when pushed. There is no comparison between this car and the BMW 'Z' series, they simply can't compete. Faster than a Corvette, with Mercedes quality and AMG performance improvements. The kicker is that is gets 22 MPG in town and 27 on the highway, with sub-5 second 0-60 times and a (goverened) 155 MPH top speed. -

Mercedes has a hit with this one. The car overall is a pleasure to drive. The fit and finish are top rate. Overall the new style suits the performance of the vehicle. Great turning, acceleration, and improved driver feedback are the hallmark of this new car.
