Cons: transmission - this is a noisy car
Advice: Wait a few years until they perfect the transmission and airconditioningI have owned this vehicle since Aug 05 - IT is horrible! I had to replace the transmission 3 times! It still is not right - the shifting is noticable and unacceptable for a car of this cost. ALso beware of the sound coming from the engine when the air conditioning is on full blast -
Pros: style meets ride
Cons: the rear end - does anyone remember the oldsmobile aurora? extra $ for xenon? Nav system not as user friendly as others i have
Advice: shop around for the package you wantExtremely responsive and handles well. check out the turn radius! acceleration is good even at highway speeds though there is an occasional lurch. Visibility is slightly dimminished compared to other cars in its class. definitely gets looks wherever you go.
Pros: Keyless Go and Distronic
Advice: noneWell, i am a first time MBZ driver. Leased my first ever MBZ CLS500 fully loaded with MSRP of $81K+. However, i managed to get $73K OTD. The problem, everything MALFUNCTION Less then 48 hrs later. All the lights were on, SRS, check engine, cruise control, control unit, navi not working, everything not working. It makes me thing maybe the dealer knew about the problem and that is why they sell it cheap. I heard around that it's hard to get CLS500 and no dealer will let it go so much below MSRP. I also felt the transmission was jerking went i go from 1st to 2nd. I don't know but maybe i am bad luck. The sales guy drove my car and onto the pavement and scratched my Wheel!!!
Cons: Worrying if tires will hold up in city drivivg
Advice: I love it in whiteMy 3rd Benz all very good this one great
Pros: seating of six
Cons: lack of cargo area and shift controls
Advice: see the vehicle and drive it before buying.Vehicle had ample power, smooth in every aspect in handling. Did not particularly like the steering wheel controls, especially the shifting to manual from automatic. You can accidently change. WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE LACK OF CARGO AREA WITH ALL THREE ROWS UP AND OCCUPIED. You seem to be between a wagon/suv and crossover. I did not buy it because of the lack of cargo area.
Pros: Beautiful styling
Advice: Please don't buy one...I want my exclusivity!I've had my CLS since June and have put 5k miles on it so far. I've owned 7 MBZ since '92, an 400SE, 2 CLKs (320 & 430), 1 SLK, an ML430 and a G500. This car is by far the best of all. The preceding comments say it all, great style, better than average handling, great quality, outstanding performance. On two trips of about 2000 miles, I averaged 71-73 mph (car computer) and still got 23mpg. The seven speed transmission is a wonderful addition and rewards you with the best of both worlds...0-60 in 5.5 sec. and exceptional mpg for a car this size and weight. I couldn't be happier with this choice.
Pros: Smooth, Powerful Engine
Cons: I'd like a thicker steering wheel
Advice: Put all the goodies in it... it makes for great entertainment.I have had my CLS 500 for about 4 days and have driven it in many situations. I've had 15 cars in the last 8 years and this car is by far the highest quality, sexiest, and an overall acheiver. I love the Distronic (I splurged and glad I did - even in So. Cal. driving). I put on the AMG wheels and it they look and feel great. I love the ability to select my own suspension settings. The upgraded stereo is excellent and love the Sirius Satellite Option. Don't walk, run to your nearst Mercedes Dealer! Good job Mercedes, I was a BMW fanactic and this new CLS has me come to the other side!
