Looking Back At the McLaren F1's Owners Manual

Can an owner's manual really be considered art? It's an odd question to ask, we admit, especially considering that most manuals feature such banal (yet pertinent) information as how to operate the power windows or the dangers of parking your vehicle on a pile of leaves. The manual for the McLaren F1, however, includes all of that information and a few stunning works of art. With hand-drawn illustrations wrapped in a hardbound book, it's something that feels more at home on a coffee table than a glovebox.

Recently, McLaren released a video interview with the person in charge of producing this manual, Mark Roberts, McLaren's Design Operations Manager. Roberts joined the company back in 1992, and the owners manual was actually his first project. Check out the video for more on this interesting story.
