great handling-needs more h.p.
Pros: Handling
Cons: The way it sucks gas around town, you'd expect more power.
Great car...gas mileage could be better. The dealers for Mazdas are complete scumbags. It's why you don't see more of them on the road. I'd never even think of buying a new one.Pros: Handling
Cons: I upsized the tires to 205's,much more of a selection
Great handling car. Loves a twisty road.Gas mileage just ok.30 on the highway if your lucky. I bought this car because of the styling and the handling. I can take it to Home Depot and fill up the back, or drive out to the country and blast down some twisties.Very dependable...normal maintenance so far is all it's needed.A 'buy'.Pros: Good looking leather interior & dash.
Cons: Big
Advice: Overall an excellent buy
It's the best combination of steering, brakes & handling Iv'e driven in over 40 yrs. The engine/trans. is perky & smooth & the gas mileage is above avg. Reliability is excellent!Pros: Solid Interior Build, Loves Curves
Cons: Underpowered
Advice: Test Drive Before You Buy
I am what you could call a ricer. I love asian imports. I grew up reading about the civics, accords, integras, supras, rx-7, mr2, etc.. But now im a little older and a little more mature. HP is not my primary concern, especially for a daily driver, im sorry but driving to school and to work im never going to need or use even 300 hp. I wanted a car that could handle the road well and put a smile on my face. I tried a bunch of late model civics and even found a killer deal on a 2004 Mazda6 the four cylynder version with all the bells and whistles for only $18,400. I passed that up for a Protoge5, I have not regreted it yet. The PR5 i have is also fully loaded 5 spd. Where as the Mazda6 had a coolness factor to it, when I drove the protoge I had a smile on my face. The coolness will wear off, the smile on my face will not. This is one of those cars some people will love and the rest of the world will wonder what in the hell the people who do like the car are thinking. Just drive one and you will see what I mean. I have a 2003.5 classic red Pr5 5spd with everything, except leather, (I hate leather in cars, but thats another story).Pros: It looks great ,
Cons: audio and lacks a bit of power
Advice: Great for a small family
Awsome car to drive, especially if you are switching from a honda or VW. It handles very well and it is spacious and confortable. and the best of all you get 400 Miles out of a full gas tank.Pros: Suspension
Cons: Slightly under-powered
Advice: Don't buy this car if you don't like a sporty feeling ride.
I'd driven my brother's Protege sedan and really liked it. When I lost my job and found myself looking for work in a slow economy I decided to 'downgrade' from a GMC Yukon to the P5. I made the switch and never looked back! This is a FUN car to drive. Its handling qualities are crisp and it hugs the road on corners. I drive this car the slow and curvy way just because it's so darn fun! The power leaves a bit to be desired, but is nothing that a few aftermarket mods couldn't handle. This car is NOT for everyone. If you like a sporty ride, you'll love the P5. If you don't like to feel the road, I'd suggest that you keep looking, because this car is definitely not for you! Overall, I love this car. Yellow was my color of choice, but it looks SO classy in Silver. Regardless of color, this is a reliable car that never ceases to put a grin on my face!Pros: headlights
Cons: Seat cushion softness
Advice: Buy it. You'll really be happy with it. It is very roomy as well!
The test drive went so well that I bought it. Everything is great. It's fast and fun and in yellow it really catches peoples attention. The seats aren't the cooshiest but the dials that adjust the seat make up for it.
