The 2016 Mazda CX-3 is an all-new type of sporty compact crossover, and is a nod to the future of personal transportation. Combining an elevated driving position with a sub-compact footprint, Mazda’s CX-3 packs a lot of utility into a relatively small package that is incredibly fun to drive. All CX-3 models are powered by Mazda's SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that sends 146 HP and 146 lb-ft of torque to either the front or all four wheels. Fuel consumption is an impressive 29 miles per gallon in the city and up to 35 mpg on the highway.
Starting at $19,960 the 2016 Mazda CX-3 Sport rides on a set of 16-inch allow wheels and comes complete with modern necessities like a rearview camera, one-touch power driver window, and dual front and side-impact airbags. The next step up for CX-3 shoppers is the $21,960 Touring model. Like the CX-3 Sport, the Touring packs a lot of value into such a small package by adding items like rear cross-traffic alert and heated front sport seats wrapped in leatherette, as well as Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry. The top of the line CX-3 Grand Touring packs premium features like 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, and real leather.
Competitors to the 2016 Mazda CX-3 include the Jeep Renegade, Honda HR-V, and Nissan Juke.
