    2002 Maserati Coupe - Cambiocorsa

    Pros: The engine

    Cons: The entertainment system

Advice: Not for the lazy! Real Drivers Wanted

The Maserati Coupe is a unique car. It prowls along at low speeds the powerful V8 sending tremors through the car while the tailpipes emit the most fantastic deep throbbing exhaust note you could imagine. Then when you open up the throttle that Ferrari V-8 engine roars into life and propels you ferociously down the highway. The car's design is pure with beautiful curves and photographs do not do it justice. On the other side of the ledger this is very much a drivers car designed to be driven along open twisting roads and not designed for leisurely driving or driving in traffic. As such the armrests are not really well positioned nor is the cupholder where provided. The trunk is also small so the car is not great as a grand tourer. In addition the radio, navigation is not top notch. That said if you are looking for a car for the radio, the ability to drink coffee while driving and the ability to sit in traffic you are probably not a Maserati driver anyway. On the other hand if you want a car that's got an amazing engine, hugs close to every contour in the road and requires you to drive like a man this could be the car for you.

This car CAN be the best...unfortunatelly, it isn't close. and furthermore Maserati doesn't do well backing the car when it has problems.....I would love to own a quality Italian car..this isn't it

    2005 Maserati Quattroporte - Base

Pros: Beauty, comfort and performance in one package

Cons: Inexperienced drivers who trash this beauty.

    Advice: Caveat Emptor

I am getting a 2005 leftover at a great price. After driving for while I expect to write a new review, although I am expecting a '5' on all counts, since my Maserati Bora was so much more luxurious, quiet and comfortable than my Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer. Maserati was owned by Citroen at that time and everything was hydraulic. Presently I have a Bentley Continental 'R' coupe, two Phaetons, a W12 and a V8,(the new Bentley Continental, in my personal opinion is a Phaeton in a hand made suit),Audis namely, Audi A8, A6 4.2, and S-4 4.2, the BMW Z3 roadster 'M' version, a vintage Ferrari 400 and Rolls Camargue, and a '92 MBZ 4matic wagon for my dogs.

    2004 Maserati Coupe - Cambiocorsa

Pros: The power and the looks other drivers give you!

Cons: Cambiocorsa transmission is quirky and jerky when parking.

Advice: black color is a dust magnet. would get a lighter color next time.

After driving Porsche 911's for 15 years, wanted something different. This car is a gem. Very fast, very smooth on the road. I have put 10,000 miles on mine in 2 years. Only a few minor glitches needing warranty work. Despite other reviews, I have had very few mechanical problems with this car. The dealer has been very helpful on the few occasions I needed something. Not a daily driver however. I'm too paranoid about getting a parking lot dent.

    2005 Maserati Quattroporte - Base

    Pros: None at this point

    Cons: The service, car problems

Advice: Don't consider getting this lemon.

I got my Maserati Quattroporte 2005 in the mid 2005. Despite the looks and the luxurious image, this vehicle has been a real problem from the start. The problems are mainly of electrical nature. In the six months of owning this car, I had driven it for about 600 miles, and it has been in the service shop time after time. The service, joint with Ferrari service, has proven to be a living nightmare, and outright negligent. I tried to reach the dealer, but he is not to be reached on the phone. It is hard to believe that the vehicle in this price category, fails so miserably both in quality and service. If you are seduced by the first reviews and looks of this car, think five times before handing your money to support this technical incompetence, luck of service, and luck of any consideration for the customer.

    2005 Maserati GranSport - Base

    Pros: Torque

Cons: wheel spacing - it'd look that much better with the wheels spaced by an extra half an inch

Advice: Buy it! Because Maserati wants them on the road

Read the first review. I couldn't have said it better. The car is a technological marvel, an artpiece to look at, music to the ears (hard to fathom why they have stereo systems) and a heart-pumping joy to ride (they offer a sweet surprise past 6k RPM). I was originally drawn to its low-key stature (as opposed to a Ferrari, Lamborgini, Bentley etc.) however, it gets just as many if not more looks than those cars. Just yesterday I was followed by a young guy driving in his car while his passenger took pictures of the Gran Sport with her phone camara.

    2005 Maserati Quattroporte - Base

Pros: Beautiful, nothing like it on the road!

Cons: Two for two with major problems; endemic?

Advice: Avoid this beauty untl someone works out the kinks.

I am probably the only person in the USA to have owed two Quattroportes. This car looks great and, when it runs, is a solid well-handling vehicle. The first car had so many flaws the manufacturer took it back (sebsequently sold it to another unsuspecting buyer) and my second Q has just had the clutch, throw-out bearing and fly wheel replaced at 4,000 miles. I am sure there are other Q's out there who's owners haven't suspected they have a problem. Like a beautiful 'femme fatale', this car is to be avoided until Maserati owns up to their problem
