In 50 years best car I have owned
Pros: The ride
Cons: Voice recognition systemI have owned 39 cars in past 50 years. I have owned Imperials, Infinitis, Thunderbirds, as well as several Chevies and Fords. This is by far the best car I have owned.
This car is perfectly AWESOME
Pros: Sat.Serius XM radio
Cons: Can't think of a thingWe have the LS 460L, the longer version. Our third LS & undoubtedly the best one yet.
Great with some flaws
Pros: User control simplicity & value
Cons: Driver door noise & lack of driver seat adjustmentsI have owned many Lexus cars including 3 LS models. I love the value & simplicity of controls compared to the Germans. I have 2 complaints about this car. First, the driver's side door makes a noise over sudden bumps. The dealership could not fix it & acknowledged it is a design issue, one I find unacceptable in a $70,000 car. Second, the drivers seat does not adjust up enough at the front of the seat cushion. I find it difficult to get the thigh support I want. Again, in a $70,000, you should be able to adjust every section of the seat to a comfortable position. I have the same issue with my son's Hyundai, but that car cost $15,000. Other than that, adjustable suspension & steering effort would be a nice touch in this class car. Creature features & user friendly controls are a plus. The car also costs $20,000 to $30,000 less than a comparably equipped BMW 7, Mercedes S or Audi 8.
My Fourth Lexus
Pros: Comfortable ride and the appearance.
Cons: Poor quality leather on seats.Like everything there is good and bad news about the latest generation of Lexus. I have owned 1992, 1996, 2004 and now the 2008 LS460. The good news is that the appearance has improved. My car is triple black with chrome lexus rims - looks great! The ride is comfortable, at 380HP the engine and the eight speed transmission are smooth and powerful, gas mileage decent 16/21. Some of the interior trim is incredibly cheap ( glove box ) door and the leather on my front drivers seat began to show wear at 20K miles ( lexus has offered to stain, not replace the leather ). Service remains good but expensive and the tires that came on the car - Bridgestone EL 42s' were subject to hydroplanning and wore out in 20,500 miles ! The best Lexus I have owned was the 2004 LS. Not that this is a bad car but I am used to excellent cars from Lexus and this one falls a bit short for $74K.
Cons: Locked Out Navigation
Advice: Have the salesperson explain why you can't override the Navigation Lockout while in motion. The perfect vehicle, except...most every useful function of the navigation system is locked out while you're in motion, something not found in the Acura/Honda systems. A glaring oversight for Toyota/Lexus. I'll never buy another Lexus because of it.
Pros: Advanced parking system, air cooled seats, Levinson sound system.
Cons: Love everything.
Advice: Value and amenities and depenability cannot be beat.Have owned the LS460 for 3 months, driving it has been the complete enjoyment that is missing in other so called luxury vehicles. I have driven both the Mercedes S550 and the BMW 750LI [both brand new] while searching for a new luxury car, neither can compare to the luxury, performance and value of this outstanding vehicle. Drive it and you will buy it!
