    2007 Lexus ES 350

Great car, not so great transmission

    Pros: Comfort

    Cons: Transmission

I really love this car, but replacing a transmission at 80000 miles is unacceptable in a vehicle in this price range.

    2007 Lexus ES 350 - Base

    Pros: comfort

    Cons: Navigation Lockout

Advice: Don't buy with Nav. System

I bought the 2007 ES350 before I knew that the navigation system lockout over-ride had been eliminated. I hate that I have to stop the car to use the Nav system or bluetooth phone features. I regret buying the car with the NAV and wish I had saved that 5,000 or so and just gotten a non-Lexus one later.

    2007 Lexus ES 350 - Base

Pros: Convenience features and attention to quality detail.

Cons: Most nav features are disabled when the car is in motion. There is NO nav system lockout override.

Advice: Carefully consider your options if the navigation system is intended for highway use.

Fit and finish are superb, really top class. Many creature comforts that anticipate just about every need.

    2007 Lexus ES 350 - Base

    Pros: Styling

    Cons: Nothing

Advice: Don't spend the money on the navagation system, unless you truly need it.

I purchased my ES in August last year and have yet to put 2,500 miles on it. I agree with those that state the suspension is too soft, but it's not designed to be on par with a BMW, either. Lexus designed this car to be a luxury ride and I believe they have achieved that goal. Performance is acceptable, but nothing special. I'm not sure if the delay I am experiencing in acceleration is typical, but from the time the gas pedal is put to the floor to the time the engine responds is approximately two seconds. I'll have this checked at the next service. Fuel economy is better than I expected at over 30 mpg in real world driving. There is a bit of wind noise in the cabin, but is there really a vehicle out there that is truly without wind noise? If one finds the noise obtrusive, just turn up the stereo. The back up camera is a nice touch, but one must purchase the navagation system to get it. I don't recommend spending the money on it. One of the diving factors in my decision to purchase this vehicle is the relibality from Toyota. I have a 97 T 100 with 200k on the odomoter and and along with regular PM, have only replaced one alternator. I look for the same reliability from the ES and the service from Lexus is second to none.

    2007 Lexus ES 350 - Base

    Pros: Ventilated seats

Cons: Navigation system cripple by a 'safeguard' that is no appropriate and unwanted!

Advice: Avoid the vehicle or at least avoid the navigation system.

I have owned my Lexus ES350 for just over a week now. I regret the day I decided to buy it. The navigation and audio systems are the problem. You see, Lexus (and parent company Toyota) feel that I don't really own the car. These systems have many of their functions disabled once the vehicle is moving. The trouble is, I wasn't told about this before the sale. The real issue is, why can't a PASSENGER use the Nav system safely while the vehicle is in motion? Its amazing, my $500 Garmin Nuvi doesn't stop me from using it when it is moving! More details can be found on my blog at: www.jeffsstuff.com/blogs Please post your comments as I intend to forward them to Toyota/Lexus!

    2007 Lexus ES 350 - Base

    Pros: navigation system

    Cons: Poor quality sound system

Advice: Do Not Buy a 2007

This vehicle looks good but I would steer clear of the 2007's. The transmissions are having to be repaired or replaced in several of the 350's. Piston slap is a problem for about 25% of the 2007 350's. The stereo sound system is of poor quality.
