2013 Land Rover LR2 Luxury SUV Video Review

Land Rover’s smallest model, the LR2, got some changes for the 2013 model year. However, you won’t find many of the changes on the outside. The LR2 sticks with its basic shape, but features a revised front end with new headlights, new taillights, and new wheel choices. Inside, the LR2 features a revised center stack and new instrument cluster.

The major change for the 2013 LR2 lies under the hood. Land Rover has said farewell to the 3.2L inline-six that has powered the LR2 since its introduction in 2009 to a new turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine. The turbo-four produces 240 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque, up 10 and 16 respectively when compared to the outgoing inline-six. EPA rates the 2013 LR2 at 17 City/24 Highway/20 Combined.

All LR2s come equipped with a four-wheel drive provided by Haldex and Land Rover’s Terrain Response System which uses a computer to control certain components of the four-wheel drive system to help you get through the terrain you’re driving through. All LR2s also can ford bodies of water of up to 19.7 inches. Yes, this is a very capable SUV. Those who aren’t planning to go off the beaten path should look at the Range Rover Evoque.

A 2013 LR2 starts at $37,295 for the base model and climbs up to $42,395 for the top trim, LR2 HSE Lux. Competitors to the 2013 LR2 include the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes-Benz GLK.
