One of the most glamorous of the world’s automotive brands, new Lamborghini cars are coveted just as much for their incredible performance potential as they are their exotic rakishness. The first Lamborghini, the 1963 Turin Motor Show’s Lamborghini 350GTV concept car was designed and built in only four months.
A number of well-received models followed the production version of first Lamborghini automobile to market. But the car that really established Lamborghini in the minds of most car people was the 1967 Lamborghini Miura—the world’s first mid-engine exotic sports car. It was also the first Lamborghini automobile to be named after a fighting bull, which is a pattern the company continues to this day.
In 1971, the world got its first glimpse of the car most people of a certain age envision when they hear the word Lamborghini.
Countach (pronounced Koon-tash).
The sheer and utter audacity of the Countach has set the tone for every 12-cylinder mid-engine supercar Lamborghini has produced in its wake. The graceful softness of the look of the Miura was replaced by the angular brutishness of the Countach. Its successors, Diablo, Murcielago, and now Aventador are all patterned after the design language established with the Lamborghini Countach.
Being what they are, Lamborghini buyers typically formulate their purchase decisions a bit differently than people buying more mainstream automobiles. Still, our Autobytel review team delves into Lamborghini reviews just as thoroughly as we do every other brand’s. You’ll find the powertrain, interior, engineering, and styling aspects covered in our Lamborghini reviews contain just as much detailed analysis as we afford every other model.
