    2005 Kia Spectra5 - (M5)

    Pros: 6 standars airbags.

    Cons: Poor frontal crash performance.

Advice: Good little car, just be aware of the crash test results.

I bought this car for my wife, so I didn't test drive it before I bought it. I was pleasantly suprised to find that it handles pretty well. The shifter throws could be a little shorter, which would make it feel sportier, but since this is going to be a grocery getter, it's no big deal. She loves the car, but its also her first new car, so she may be biased. After we had the car for a week or so, I found the crash test ratings on the net. I was 'disappointed' to find that it scored a poor rating in frontal impact. The airbag apparently allowed the crash test dummy's head to contact the steering wheel, not good. I've been kinda unnerved about the car since i found this out, and have decided to pay the car off quickly, maybe a year and a half, then get her a different vehicle, probably an suv, and I'll use this one as a daily driver. The safety aspect doesn't bother me if I'm the one driving it, after all, my daily driver right now is a motorcycle. If you're putting your family in one of these, be aware that it's not as safe as you might think.

    2005 Kia Spectra5 - (M5)

    Pros: Standard 4-wheel disc brakes

Cons: Still don't know how to reset the trip meter

    Advice: Do your homework

I drove all competitors (Focus, Matrix, Mazda3 etc.) this car has more horsepower, torque and overall comfort than any new car in its class. The quiet interior and response of the car are outstanding. Nice looking car, great mileage (33mpg), fast, safe and best warranty on the market. I looked at this car just to 'rule it out' of my desired list of cars, and it ended up soundly thumping all competition. I bought one for 16K (including tax and title.) Best buy on the market. Drive one, you'll be amazed.

    2005 Kia Spectra5 - (M5)

Pros: All the standard features on this vehicle are options on all most any other car.

Cons: I could not get it in a orange color.

Advice: For the money it is the best thing you will find.

From the first test drive all the way to signing the deal was a pleasure. I work for a Mazda dealership and they could not come close to the price or warranty. As soon as we pay this one off we are going to get another for my wife. This is the first new car purchase I have made.

    2005 Kia Spectra5 - (M5)

Pros: the fact that it has alot of safety features including side curtain airbags

Cons: the switch that turns the headlights on is on the turn indicator and too easy to turn them off

Advice: good value for the price

I was pleaseantly suprised at the amount of passenger room this car that was rated a compact had. I had a little trouble getting used to the bucket seats in the front (If they still call them bucket seats)the back was fine but I could use a little more in the seat. Learning to use the front and rear windshield wipers is a challenge but it seems to be one that is overcomable. I do not like the Ford style of high beam switch where you push forward for high beams and pull back for low. The lower front bumper looks nice but I wonder how it will hold up on speed bumps and high parking stop blocks?
