2014 Jeep Willys Wheeler Debut Video

The Los Angeles Auto Show was the scene for the debut of a new Jeep — the 2014 Jeep Willys Wheeler. The name is a throwback to the original military and civilian Jeeps of the 1940s, but the new Willys Wheeler is basically an options package for the current model of the Jeep Wrangler Sport, rather than a separate model unto itself. It’s designed for serious off-road enthusiasts, adding extra features and capabilities to the already off-road-ready Wrangler Sport, and it also helps bring a little bit of nostalgia to the Wrangler. Autobytel was on hand for the reveal of the Jeep Willys Wheeler, and this video will provide a little bit more insight about this new offering. Daniel Gray, Road Test Editor for Autobytel, shows off the attention-getting features of the Jeep Willys Wheeler. A Jeep Wrangler Sport equipped with the Willys Wheeler package adds a Dana 44 rear axle for extra strength and stability. A Trac-Lock limited rear differential allows the driver to have more control as the Jeep tackles tough terrain. Skid plates protect the Jeep’s underbody from damage that could be caused by an especially rough landscape, and rock rails give the body additional protection from debris and rough surfaces. Finally, half doors give the Jeep Willys Wheeler a more open and exciting feel, like going on a safari adventure, and exclusive badging lets everyone know it’s not just a regular Wrangler.
