Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
I liked it, I bought it.
Pros: Sits high, nice size.
Cons: It has poor gas mileage.I like my jeep. It looks good, performs good.
Pros: pushing it in my driveway after it dies.. good exercise!
Cons: pos tranny....
Advice: dont buy iti have a 2007 and it feels like its coming apart. its been in the shop muiltiple times and its messes up about a week after they fix it. the service department lies through thier teeth and says nothings wrong and then i got home and my car would not start. i dislike their 'five star' maitenance also. it only has 2500 miles and its been in the shop 7 times... i will never buy another jeep again...
Pros: A nice Jeep overall.
Cons: Drivers seat sits a little high and can be uncomfortable after an extended ride.
Advice: Try to get the car for a weekend and actually drive it.Not a bad vehicle. A lot of people discuss the 'off road problems'. But are you REALLY buying this vehicle for the trails? I know I wouldn't. But if you do want to go out for a little camping or something, this thing will get you there. Just don't expect to climb the mountain behind a Wrangler. Also, you CAN get a lift for this thing. The biggest I have seen so far is only 2.5'. But hey, its better than stock!
Pros: The true 4-wheel drive system
Cons: could use an extra inch or two of ground clearance
Advice: Shop price. I found a huge price variance form one dealer to the next.I love the Liberty. On road, the ride is comfortable and the vehicle feels stable with decent acceleration. Off road, I was very impressed. My first trip off-road trip I wound up on the wrong trail with a lot of ruts, mud and washouts... it handled everything like you would expect from a Jeep. Like other reviews I have read, the ground clearance does require you to pay more attention to your trail, but all in all, an excellent vehicle.
Pros: Handling and style
Cons: Jeep should have installed the Goodyear Fortera tires as a option
Advice: Look for a dealer that knows about Jeeps. and cares for it's customer. That what I did!Owned a 2005 Jeep Wrangler and traded for 2006 Liberty. The Liberty does everything the Liberty does but in comfort. With the ESP this vehicle has tremendous handling quality. The vehicle was delivered to me from Thompson Chrysler/Jeep in Edgewood, MD. My Liberty handles and drives like the day I took delivery. This past winter we had an ice storm and snow. I never needed to use the 4-wheel drive.
Pros: Super gas mileage and sharp looks of the vehicle.
Cons: There are bad things about Liberties?? Are you nuts?!?
Advice: Don't waste time looking at the other sub-par SUVS, get a JeepI bought a Jeep Liberty Sport in April, 2006 from our local dealership, Baxters. I have never liked the 'experience' of buying a new car, but I already had a 2002 Liberty, and I needed another one. I have had NO problems with my previous Liberty, or the new 06. I loved my salesman, J.P. Vaughan. He was honest and ready to help. I would recommend the Liberty, the Dealership, and the salesman to everyone in the Midwest. Its a JEEP THING!!
Pros: Comfortable drive and ride
Cons: The ground clearance is misrepresented and inadequate.
Advice: BEWARE!! Do not buy if you plan to take off-road!!This is a sporty little rig that maintains the Jeep look but not the Jeep off road reputation. The brochure for this auto states the running ground clearance at 9.5/9.4 inches. BEWARE!!! The actual running ground clearance is only 7 inches which makes this vehicle an off road disaster scrapping bottom on the smallest of stones. On a positive note, the Renegade is 'Trail Rated' and has good skid plates in place. You are going to need that if you take this one off-road!! The dealer has not been able to explain why the discrepancy in the brochure and has been uncooperative in a solution to the problem. If you want a “get around town” rig, the Jeep Liberty is worth the look, but do not buy it for any off road capabilities!
