From the better late than never department: For the second year in the past three, bad weather delayed the competition for Official Winter Vehicle of New England, presented annually by the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA), and this year’s winners weren’t released until well into the current month. Now, that meant missing Autobytel’s recent look at some of the country’s favorite vehicles by region—http://www.autobytel.com/auto-news/features/regional-roundup-autobytel-looks-at-local-favorites-from-across-the-country-116767/—so let’s address that situation here:

The No. 1 choice for NEMPA was the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which took home the title of Official Winter Vehicle of New England for a third straight year. Coincidentally, Jeep also won a total of three awards during this year’s event, with Mike Manley, the Jeep brand’s president and CEO, honored as NEMPA Executive of the Year and the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee garnering the Wheels TV Previously Owned Vehicle of the Year trophy for its strong performance in the pre-owned marketplace.

Joining the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee in NEMPA’s winter-vehicle winner’s circle were:

  • Mazda MX-5 Miata—Favorite Fun Entry-Level Convertible
  • Chevrolet Camaro—Favorite Convertible $35,000-$50,000
