Jeep is known for their creative special edition models, whether they consist of new trim treatments and additional features, or bit more off-road goodness. Trying to keep track of and understand the differences between them is quite challenging, so we've whittled the list down to the newest recruits.

Check out our brief guide to Jeep's 2015 special edition vehicles.

Altitude

The largest group of Special Edition models for Jeep is the Altitude trim. Available on most Jeep models, the Altitude trim gives the model a distinctive attitude. Outside, a number of trim pieces such as the grille, wheels, and roof rails wear a blackout treatment. Altitude models also get a number of additions to their standard equipment. Such examples include heated seats for the Compass Altitude and a 8.4-inch touchscreen for the Grand Cherokee Altitude.

Compass and Patriot High Altitude

For buyers who like the idea of the Altitude model but prefer something a bit more upscale, Jeep offers the High Altitude. Available on the the Compass and Patriot, the High Altitude adds some brightwork and a set of grey painted wheels. Inside are a set of leather seats, satin trim, and a power sunroof.

Willys Wheeler Wrangler

2015 sees Jeep paying homage to the Willys Jeep, the father of the recreational vehicles with the Willys Wheeler trim for the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. This special edition takes the Sport trim and adds a bit of off-road goodies such as Jeep's Command-Trac® 4x4 system, a 3.73 Trac-Lok® rear differential, rock rails from the Rubicon model, and a set of 17-inch wheels wearing meaty BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A tires. A set of decals paying homage to the 1940's Willys Jeep give the Wrangler a bit of old-school flair. Finishing off this special edition is a Trail Rated kit which includes a tow strap, D-rings, heavy-duty gloves, and a Jeep branded bag to help you or a fellow off-roader get out of a sticky situation.

Wrangler Freedom Edition

The Jeep is one of most recognizable U.S. Army vehicles as it served extensively from World War II all the way to the Vietnam War. Because of this, Jeep has a special connection to those who are serving and for 2015 introduced the Wrangler Freedom Edition.

The Freedom Edition comes with unique 'Oscar Mike' badging (which indicates “On the Move” using the phonetic alphabet); a freedom star decal on the hood, and grey stitching on the seats and steering wheel. The best feature of the Freedom Edition is that Jeep donates a portion of each sale to the USO, a charity devoted to the support of our troops.

Wrangler X Edition

The X Games are a unique spectacle featuring athletes performing some of the more extreme things in the sporting world such as snowboarding on a halfpipe or snowmobiling on a motocross course. Jeep is one of the sponsors of the X Games and has built a special edition for those who want to experience the most of life.

The Wrangler X Edition starts off with a new hood with functional air vents; rock rails and skid plates to provide protection when you hit the trail; a body color hardtop, and a set of seventeen-inch wheels wearing a coat of black paint. Inside is a nine-speaker audio system from Alpine and a set of leather wrapped seats and steering wheel.

Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock

Wrangler enthusiasts know that if you want the ultimate, go-anywhere model, you get the Rubicon. But what if you want something more? Well Jeep has answer for you with the 2015 Rubicon Hard Rock.

The Hard Rock takes the already capable Rubicon, with such features as Jeep's Rock-Trac transfer case and electronic front sway bar disconnect, and adds new bumpers with tow hooks, rock rails to add more protection to the vehicle, seventeen-inch wheel shod in meaty off-road tires, and a tire carrier. But Jeep hasn't forgotten that it would be nice to have some luxuries to go with a more capable model. To that end, the Hard Rock gets leather seats, a UConnect infotainment system with Bluetooth, and a nine-speaker Alpine audio system.
